Rakul Preet Singh reacts as Jaya Janaki Nayaka crosses 1 Billion YouTube Views: ‘Even Dhurandhar would have been watched By…’
The actress opens up on the massive digital milestone, clears the air on the film’s box office performance, and hints at her return to Telugu cinema.
Actress Rakul Preet Singh is celebrating a major milestone as her 2017 Telugu film Jaya Janaki Nayaka has achieved a historic feat on YouTube.
The Hindi dubbed version of the film has officially crossed 1 billion views, making it the first film in the world to hit this remarkable mark on the video-sharing platform.
Reacting to the achievement, Rakul Preet Singh expressed both excitement and disbelief. The actress said the number is “insane” when translated into real audience footfalls, comparing it to theatrical viewership.
She admitted that although she had heard over the years about the film’s growing popularity online, reaching the one billion milestone still came as a surprise.
In fact, Rakul revealed that she personally checked YouTube to verify if the reports were true.
The actress also used the moment to correct what she called a long-standing misconception about the film’s box office performance.
According to Rakul, despite some reports suggesting the film underperformed commercially, Jaya Janaki Nayaka was actually successful at the time of release. She recalled that the team had celebrated its success and that the film was well received by audiences.
The action drama starred Bellamkonda Sreenivas alongside Rakul Preet Singh and was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Boyapati Srinu, known for delivering mass entertainers.
Rakul believes the digital boom after the pandemic has significantly increased the reach of South Indian cinema, especially on streaming and online video platforms.
She noted that post-2020, audiences have shown greater interest in dubbed versions of Southern films, allowing them to reach far beyond regional markets.

The actress also pointed out that platforms like YouTube could become a bigger space for filmmakers to experiment with original content, especially for smaller films, festival projects, or movies that may struggle for theatrical releases.
In her view, such milestones create more room for creative storytelling outside traditional OTT limitations.

When asked whether this success makes her consider returning to Telugu cinema more actively, Rakul said she is definitely open to it.
Her last Telugu release was Boo, but she explained that a busy schedule in Hindi cinema has kept her occupied over the last year and a half.
The actress emphasized that at this stage of her career, choosing a project is less about language and more about the strength of the script.
After receiving praise for her role as Ayesha in De De Pyaar De 2, Rakul said she now wants to focus on roles that help her reinvent herself, especially in Telugu cinema, which she still considers her home ground.
With Jaya Janaki Nayaka hitting a record-breaking digital milestone, it seems clear that the film’s legacy continues to grow years after its original release.
