Rajinikanth at 75: The superstar’s reported ‘5 whites’ diet, fitness routine and meditation habits are attracting attention as he prepares for Jailer 2.

At an age when many actors begin slowing down, Rajinikanth continues to surprise fans with his energy, screen presence and physical fitness. Now 75, the superstar remains busy with demanding film projects, and his approach to food, exercise and everyday discipline has once again become a talking point.

A recent Instagram video by Dr Preethi Mrinalini, a consultant laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon associated with Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, has put the spotlight on what she described as Rajinikanth’s approach to avoiding certain “white” foods.

According to the doctor, the actor’s lifestyle combines clean eating, regular workouts and meditation — habits she linked to healthy ageing.

Rajinikanth’s ‘5 Whites’ rule explained

In the video shared on August 19, Dr Preethi Mrinalini discussed the veteran actor’s reported food choices and highlighted what she called the “5 whites” that Rajinikanth avoids.

She wrote in the caption that the superstar stays fit by avoiding salt, sugar, maida, milk and curd, adding that excessive consumption of such foods can be associated with concerns including inflammation, insulin spikes, acidity and digestive problems.

The doctor presented Rajinikanth as an example of how consistent lifestyle habits can play a role in staying physically active with age.

However, it is important to note that these claims represent the doctor’s commentary and should not be interpreted as a universal diet plan for everyone.

What has Rajinikanth himself said about his diet?

Rajinikanth has previously spoken publicly about the food items he prefers to avoid.

At an event, the actor reportedly listed several foods and products he stays away from, including sugar, salt, rice, maida, milk, curd and butter. He also mentioned tablets as something he avoids.

His comments have resurfaced amid the latest discussion about his fitness, particularly because he continues to perform physically demanding roles and maintain a busy shooting schedule.

For a superstar whose career has stretched across five decades, his ability to remain active has naturally become a subject of curiosity among fans.

Why are sugar and maida being singled out?

Dr Preethi Mrinalini also discussed the possible effects of consuming refined foods in excess.

Speaking about processed sugar, she said it can contribute to belly fat, insulin resistance and increased cravings, while suggesting that reducing added sugar can be beneficial.

On refined flour, or maida, she argued that it offers little nutritional value compared with more nutrient-dense alternatives.

She also discussed white rice, making an important distinction: according to her, rice does not necessarily have to be completely eliminated. Instead, portion size and what it is eaten with matter.

Combining a moderate serving of white rice with vegetables, for instance, can make for a more balanced meal.

That distinction is particularly relevant because completely eliminating a food from one person’s diet does not automatically make the same approach suitable for everyone.

What about milk and curd?

The discussion also covered dairy products such as milk and curd.

Dr Preethi Mrinalini acknowledged that dairy can provide calcium and protein, but said that excessive consumption may not suit everyone, particularly as metabolism and dietary needs change with age.

The broader message from the video was less about following a celebrity diet blindly and more about maintaining moderation, choosing fresh foods and remaining physically active.

Rajinikanth’s fitness goes beyond food

Food is only one part of the picture.

Rajinikanth’s reported routine also includes regular physical activity and meditation, with consistency appearing to be a major part of his lifestyle.

The actor’s longevity in the film industry is remarkable. Rajinikanth’s profile on Wikipedia notes that he has remained active in cinema since his debut in 1975, building a career spanning more than five decades.

That longevity makes his lifestyle particularly interesting to fans. But there is no single “secret” that can guarantee fitness at 75. Genetics, sleep, exercise, diet, medical care and individual health conditions all influence ageing.

‘Jailer 2’ keeps the superstar in the spotlight

Rajinikanth’s fitness conversation comes at an interesting time as the actor remains one of the biggest names associated with Tamil cinema.

He is set to reprise his iconic character Muthuvel Pandian in Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The film is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and features music by Anirudh Ravichander.

The film has generated considerable anticipation among fans, particularly after the success of its predecessor. Jailer 2 details on Wikipedia

Rajinikanth’s reported food choices may attract headlines because of his celebrity status, but the more interesting part of the story could be the consistency behind his routine.

At 75, continuing to work in physically demanding films requires more than a restrictive food list. Exercise, recovery, mental discipline and a sustainable diet are all important parts of maintaining an active lifestyle.

And while fans may be tempted to copy a superstar’s diet, nutrition experts generally stress that dietary requirements vary from person to person.

For now, Rajinikanth’s “5 whites” routine has certainly given fans another glimpse into the discipline behind the screen icon’s enduring energy.
