Baththa Box Office Day 6: Vijay Sethupathi’s film holds firm, but can it turn its Rs 12.75 crore start into something bigger?
Vijay Sethupathi-led Baththa showed a slight improvement on its sixth day in theatres, reportedly collecting Rs 1.40 crore net and taking its total India net business to Rs 12.75 crore.
Vijay Sethupathi’s Baththa is maintaining a steady presence at the box office as it approaches the end of its opening week. The comedy-drama, directed by Balaji Tharanetharan, registered a slight improvement on Day 6, suggesting that the film is continuing to find support despite the usual weekday pressure.
According to early figures reported by box-office tracker Sacnilk, Baththa collected approximately Rs 1.40 crore net in India on its sixth day.
With the latest numbers included, the film’s reported India net collection has reached Rs 12.75 crore, while its domestic gross stands at approximately Rs 14.78 crore.
Baththa sees a slight rise on Day 6
The Rs 1.40 crore Day 6 collection represents a modest increase over the film’s fifth-day business.
While the jump itself may not be dramatic, a weekday improvement can be an encouraging sign for a film relying on audience response and sustained theatrical momentum.
The immediate challenge for Baththa will now be maintaining this pace as it completes its first week and heads towards its second weekend.
A stronger weekend hold could give the film an opportunity to build significantly on its current Rs 12.75 crore India net total.
Vijay Sethupathi reunites with Balaji Tharanetharan
Baththa also marks another collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and filmmaker Balaji Tharanetharan.
The actor-director combination previously worked together on Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, released in 2012, and Seethakaathi, which arrived in 2018.
Their latest collaboration moves into a very different setting, blending elements of comedy, family drama, adventure, mystery and gangster cinema.
What is Baththa about?
At the centre of Baththa is an unusual incident involving a gangster and a young boy.

The story follows a gangster who accidentally finds himself locked inside a school toilet by a child. What initially appears to be a bizarre and humorous situation gradually develops into something much more consequential for both characters.
As they deal with the circumstances surrounding the incident, the experience begins to have life-changing consequences.
Rather than functioning purely as a gangster drama, Baththa reportedly mixes several genres, using its unusual premise to explore its characters through humour, family emotions and moments of tension.

Who stars alongside Vijay Sethupathi?
Apart from Vijay Sethupathi, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Lijomol Jose, Sai Prithvi Raj, Sahasra Shree, Santhy Balachandran, Harikrishnan, Ajay Ghosh, Deepa Venkat, Arjun Chidambaram and Vishnu Aravind.
The film has also attracted attention for the way it combines an unconventional gangster story with a child-centric adventure and family drama.
Early critical reactions have highlighted its genre-blending approach, particularly the manner in which the film moves between comedy, mystery, survival elements and emotional drama.
Can Baththa build momentum from here?
At Rs 12.75 crore net after six days, Baththa’s box-office journey is still at an early stage.
Its slight improvement on Day 6 is nevertheless noteworthy because weekday collections often provide a clearer picture of a film’s underlying audience support after the initial opening rush has faded.
The upcoming days particularly the second weekend should offer a better indication of the film’s long-term theatrical prospects.
For now, Vijay Sethupathi and Balaji Tharanetharan’s latest collaboration appears to be holding its ground, and whether Baththa can convert that stability into a bigger box-office run will be the number to watch next.
