Vijay's final film Jana Nayagan collected ₹6.10 crore on Day 7, taking its India net total close to the ₹150 crore milestone.

Chennai: Jana Nayagan, starring Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in what has been announced as his final film as an actor, continued to witness a slowdown at the box office on its seventh day. After a strong opening weekend, the political action drama has seen collections decline sharply during the weekdays.

According to trade estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned ₹6.10 crore (net) in India on Day 7 (Wednesday), marking another drop in its daily earnings.

Day 7 Collections See Another Decline

The latest figures indicate that Jana Nayagan recorded a 23.8% decline compared to Tuesday’s collection of ₹8 crore.

The film also witnessed a relatively modest 15.7% overall theatre occupancy on Wednesday, reflecting a slowdown in audience footfall after its opening weekend.

With the latest earnings, the film’s total India net collection now stands at approximately ₹149.50 crore, narrowly missing the ₹150 crore milestone after its first week in theatres.

Worldwide Gross Crosses ₹255 Crore

Despite the domestic slowdown, the film continues to perform steadily overseas.

Reports suggest Jana Nayagan earned around ₹2.50 crore in the international market on Wednesday, taking its worldwide gross collection to an estimated ₹255.63 crore.

The film had enjoyed a strong extended opening weekend, collecting approximately ₹124.75 crore in India before weekday collections began tapering off.

Competition Expected to Intensify

The box office challenge could become tougher in the coming days with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which opened in Indian cinemas on July 30.

Trade analysts expect the latest Marvel release to attract a significant share of moviegoers, potentially impacting the collections of films already running in theatres, including Jana Nayagan.

A Significant Film in Vijay’s Career

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan holds special significance as it has been promoted as Vijay’s final film before focusing entirely on his political career.

The film experienced multiple delays before its release on July 23, 2026, and also faced challenges after portions of the movie reportedly surfaced online months ahead of its theatrical debut. The makers also completed the required certification process before securing its release.

The ensemble cast includes Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Sunil, Nassar, and Priyamani in key roles. The film has been released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

While the opening response reflected Vijay’s immense popularity, the coming weekend will be crucial in determining whether Jana Nayagan can regain momentum and comfortably cross the ₹150 crore mark in India.Note: Box office figures are based on trade estimates and may be revised as official numbers become available.
