Rakul Preet Singh Breaks Silence on IT Raid Reports: ‘I Do Not Hold Any Benami Property…’
Rakul Preet Singh has strongly rejected reports linking her to an alleged Income Tax Department search, saying the action was “not pertaining” to her and denying claims involving benami property, illegal foreign remittances or expensive gifts.
Rakul Preet Singh has broken her silence after days of reports linking her name to alleged Income Tax Department searches, issuing a strongly worded statement in which she denied financial wrongdoing and criticised sections of the media for publishing what she described as unverified claims.
Reports had recently claimed that searches were conducted at multiple locations allegedly connected to the actor and her father-in-law, film producer Vashu Bhagnani, over suspected financial irregularities. Rakul, however, has now said that the search in question did not concern her.
‘The Search Was Not Pertaining to Me’
Addressing the reports through a statement shared on Instagram, Rakul stressed her background and said she has consistently complied with her tax obligations.“The search was not pertaining to me.”
The actor said she comes from an Armed Forces background, had no “Godfather” in the film industry and built her career through hard work. She further stated that she has been paying her due taxes since the age of 20.
Her statement comes after several days of speculation surrounding the reported tax searches.
Rakul Denies Benami Property and Illegal Foreign Remittances
Rakul also directly addressed some of the more serious claims circulating around the reported action.
The actor said she had not been involved in any illegal foreign remittance, either personally or on behalf of a production house.
She also categorically denied holding any benami property for another person, whether in India or overseas.“I do not hold any Benami property on behalf of anyone anywhere in the country or abroad.”

Rakul further said she had never been gifted property and claimed that, as a matter of principle, she does not accept expensive gifts.

Beyond denying the financial allegations, Rakul expressed frustration with the way the story had been reported.
She accused some online reporters and mainstream media journalists of prioritising sensationalism without adequately verifying facts, arguing that commercial pressures should not come at the expense of an individual’s reputation or livelihood.“But it cannot come at the cost of facts.”

The actor described the situation as “heartbreaking”, saying inaccurate reporting can have consequences beyond generating headlines.
Her response represents her first detailed public clarification since reports surrounding the alleged searches emerged.

On the professional front, Rakul Preet Singh was recently seen in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, starring Ayushmann Khurrana.
She is also part of the anticipated Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, in which she is set to portray Surpanakha.
With her latest statement, Rakul has made her position clear: she denies involvement in the alleged financial irregularities and maintains that the reported search was not related to her.
For now, her statement puts her version of events on record amid the continuing attention surrounding the reported Income Tax action.
