Wamiqa Gabbi playfully reminds Ayushmann Khurrana how his college theatre group once rejected her, years before they became co-stars.

Sometimes, the entertainment industry comes full circle in the most unexpected ways — and Wamiqa Gabbi just proved that with a hilarious throwback involving Ayushmann Khurrana.

The two actors recently worked together for the first time in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, alongside Rakul Preet Singh and Sara Ali Khan. But as it turns out, their connection goes back much further — to Ayushmann’s college theatre days in Chandigarh.

A resurfaced video from an interview has gone viral, where Wamiqa reminded Ayushmann of an awkward chapter from their past.

During the conversation, Ayushmann was recalling his early days in Chandigarh before entering films. The actor spoke fondly about his passion for performing and revealed that he was actively involved in both music and theatre.

“I had a band and a theatre group. I was having a lot of fun in Chandigarh,” Ayushmann said.

That’s when Wamiqa interrupted him with a sharp question.

“Which theatre group was this? Aaghaaz?”

Ayushmann confirmed it was indeed Aaghaaz — and that’s when Wamiqa dropped the bombshell.

“I auditioned for that theatre group… They rejected me,” she said.

The revelation left Ayushmann visibly embarrassed and laughing.

Trying to defend himself, the actor quickly responded, “I was not there at that time. My juniors must have rejected you.”

But Wamiqa wasn’t letting it go that easily.

With a sarcastic smile, she fired back, “Yeah… But now we are doing a film together, so f* y**.”**

The room burst into laughter before she quickly clarified that the remark was aimed at his juniors and not Ayushmann himself.

“I love you,” she added, softening the playful jab.

The candid moment has since resurfaced online and fans are loving the irony — from being rejected by his theatre circle to becoming his co-star years later.

Their film Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, directed by Mudassar Aziz, was positioned as a spiritual sequel to Pati Patni Aur Woh. However, despite its ensemble cast and buzz, the film received mixed reviews and struggled at the box office.

Looking ahead, Ayushmann has an interesting slate lined up, including Udta Teer, Yeh Prem Mol Liya, and Mupapa.

Wamiqa, meanwhile, remains one of the busiest actors across industries, with projects spanning Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Punjabi cinema — proving that one rejection was never going to define her journey.
