Mamitha Baiju once feared she might never get an opportunity to work with Vijay, but the actress eventually shared the screen with the Tamil superstar in Jana Nayagan.

Sometimes, an actor’s old interview becomes far more interesting after life takes an unexpected turn.

That is exactly what has happened with Mamitha Baiju, whose earlier comments about wanting to work with Tamil superstar Vijay have resurfaced online.

During an old conversation, Mamitha had admitted that appearing in a Vijay film was something she had always wanted. At one point, however, she became convinced that the opportunity was unlikely to come her way.

What makes those comments particularly striking today is that her fear eventually proved wrong.

Mamitha went on to share screen space with Vijay in Jana Nayagan.

‘Now It Won’t Happen for Sure’

During an earlier interview with Sillymonks Mollywood, Mamitha spoke about being roped in for Vanangaan alongside Suriya.

Rather than thinking only about the excitement of working with another major star, an unusual thought reportedly crossed her mind would doing the project mean she had lost her chance to work with Vijay?

Mamitha said, “I have always wished to be roped in for Vijay’s film, but now it won’t happen for sure.”

Recalling her reaction after landing the other superstar project, she added that one of her first thoughts was that she might no longer get an opportunity to play a role in a Vijay movie.

Looking back, the comment has taken on an entirely different meaning.

Mamitha Grew Up Watching Vijay’s Films

Mamitha’s wish to work with Vijay wasn’t simply about collaborating with another successful actor.

She has previously spoken about growing up watching films featuring major Tamil stars and experiencing the enormous celebrations surrounding their releases.

Speaking about Vijay’s popularity, Mamitha said his films are “celebrated in theatres” by fans and moviegoers.

She also recalled having grown up watching films of such superstars.

Among Vijay’s movies, Mamitha specifically mentioned Ghilli, one of the films that contributed to her admiration for the actor from a young age.

For someone who had watched his films as a fan, eventually appearing alongside him represented a notable full-circle moment.

The Dream Eventually Came True With ‘Jana Nayagan’

Despite Mamitha once believing that a Vijay collaboration “won’t happen for sure,” she eventually landed precisely that opportunity.

The actress shared screen space with Vijay in Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth.

That makes the resurfaced interview particularly interesting for fans what Mamitha once considered an unlikely career opportunity eventually became part of her filmography.

Her journey from watching Vijay’s movies while growing up to appearing in one alongside him is the kind of career moment that few fans get to experience.

Mamitha Baiju Currently Recovering After Hospitalisation

The old interview has resurfaced at a time when Mamitha has also been in the news over her health.

The actress was recently hospitalised after suffering from high fever and body pain and has been undergoing treatment.

Her condition also forced her to cancel a scheduled trip to Australia, where she was expected to participate in an Onam celebration organised by the Clyde Malayali Association.

Mamitha addressed those waiting to meet her through a video shared by the association.

She explained that she would be unable to attend on the previously confirmed date because she was receiving treatment and had been advised by doctors to take complete rest.

“If there had been any way possible, I would have come, but the doctors have advised me to take complete rest,” she said.

‘I Apologise to Everyone’

Mamitha also expressed disappointment over missing the event and apologised to those who had been expecting her appearance.

She stressed that cancelling the visit had become unavoidable because of her health and said she hoped to meet members of the association on another occasion.

“I want to come and meet the Clyde family. I apologise to everyone,” Mamitha said, adding that she hoped the meeting could happen at a later date.

Instead of proceeding without her, the Clyde Malayali Association decided to postpone the event.

According to the organisers, a revised date will be announced after coordination with Mamitha’s team and the venue.

From Vijay Fan to His Co-Star

Mamitha Baiju’s resurfaced comments offer an interesting reminder of how unpredictable an acting career can be.

There was once a time when she genuinely wondered whether her dream of appearing alongside Vijay had slipped away.

She had grown up watching his films, remembered the theatrical celebrations surrounding his releases and counted Ghilli among the movies that strengthened her admiration for the superstar.

Years later, she found herself sharing the screen with him in Jana Nayagan.

The line “it won’t happen for sure” may have reflected Mamitha’s feelings at the time but her own career ultimately delivered a very different ending.
