Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Baththa’ gets release date: Jawan star reunites with Balaji Tharaneetharan and Atlee
The much-awaited Tamil film marks Vijay Sethupathi’s third collaboration with director Balaji Tharaneetharan and is set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 1.
Chennai: The makers of Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming Tamil film have officially announced its title as Baththa, while also confirming that the movie will release in cinemas worldwide on October 1.
Directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, the film marks the third collaboration between the acclaimed filmmaker and Vijay Sethupathi, a partnership that has previously delivered critically acclaimed films and earned a loyal fan following.
Their earlier collaborations, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom and Seethakathi, received widespread appreciation from audiences and critics alike, with Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom becoming one of Vijay Sethupathi’s most celebrated films.
The announcement has heightened expectations among fans, who are eager to see the duo reunite once again on the big screen.
Atlee reunites with Vijay Sethupathi
Baththa also marks another collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and filmmaker Atlee, who is presenting the project.

The two previously worked together on the blockbuster Jawan, where Atlee directed the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer and Vijay Sethupathi played the film’s primary antagonist. This time, Atlee is associated with Baththa as its presenter, while Vijay Sethupathi takes centre stage as the lead actor.
The film is being presented by Star Studio18 and Atlee, while production responsibilities are shared by A for Apple Studios and Cine1 Studios Production.
Cast and technical team
Actor Lijomol Jose, who earned widespread praise for her performance in Jai Bhim, plays the female lead opposite Vijay Sethupathi.
The film’s music has been composed by rising talent Sai Abhyankkar, while Selvakumar SK serves as the cinematographer.
Editing has been handled by R. Kalaivanan, production design is by T. Muthuraj, and Ashwin Murugan has joined the project as co-producer.
The film has been produced by Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee, Alok Jain, and Ajit Andhare.
