Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Leak: Major Camera Design Change Revealed, 5,700mAh Battery Tipped…
A fresh leak suggests Samsung could abandon its familiar individual camera rings for a new horizontal camera module on the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra.
NEW DELHI: Samsung could be preparing one of the most noticeable design changes to its flagship Galaxy S lineup in years. The upcoming Galaxy S27 series is still months away from its expected launch, but an early leak has already offered a glimpse at what Samsung may have planned.
According to a fresh leak from well-known tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a redesigned rear camera arrangement.
Instead of the individual camera rings seen across recent Galaxy S-series phones, Samsung may introduce a single horizontal camera module stretching across the upper portion of the rear panel.
The company has not confirmed the leaked design or specifications, so the information should be treated as an early indication rather than final product details.
Galaxy S27 Could Get a Completely New Camera Layout
Samsung’s recent flagship smartphones have become instantly recognisable because of their separate camera rings arranged vertically on the rear.
That could change with the Galaxy S27 generation.
The leaked render reportedly shows the cameras grouped together inside a horizontal camera island, with the sensors positioned side by side.
Apart from giving the phone a different visual identity, the redesigned module could potentially provide additional room for Qi2-compatible magnetic accessories.
That would be an interesting development for Samsung, particularly as magnetic charging and accessory ecosystems continue to become more common across premium smartphones.
However, renders this far ahead of launch can change, and the final retail design may look considerably different.
Galaxy S27 Ultra Could Feature a 6.9-Inch Display
The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to retain its position as the largest and most feature-packed phone in the series.
According to the leaked information, the device could feature a 6.9-inch display.
The Ultra model is also rumoured to pack a substantially larger 5,700mAh battery, which could address one of the biggest expectations among Galaxy users: improved battery endurance.
The processor has not been identified yet, although the leak suggests that Samsung could use a Snapdragon chipset in the Ultra.
More details about the exact chipset are expected to emerge closer to launch.

Quad Camera Setup and S Pen Could Stay
Despite the major change in camera design, Samsung may continue offering a versatile imaging system on the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
The smartphone is expected to retain a quad-camera setup, including a 5x telephoto lens.
A 16MP front camera is also reportedly planned for selfies and video calls.
Another feature that appears unlikely to disappear is the S Pen.
The leaked render reportedly indicates that Samsung will continue supporting its stylus on the top-end Galaxy S27 Ultra, maintaining one of the biggest differences between the Ultra and other Galaxy S-series models.
There have also been earlier reports about a possible variable-aperture camera system for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. If introduced, it could provide greater flexibility in controlling light entering the camera, although this feature remains unconfirmed.
Galaxy S27 Pro Could Be More Compact
The Galaxy S27 Pro is reportedly being positioned below the Ultra while still offering premium specifications.
The phone could feature a 6.5-inch display and a 5,200mAh battery.
For photography, the Pro model is tipped to feature a triple rear-camera system, including a 50MP telephoto camera.
A 16MP front-facing camera could handle selfies and video calls.
The combination would give the Pro model a more compact profile while retaining several high-end features.
Why the Camera Redesign Matters
The reported switch to a horizontal camera island would represent more than a simple cosmetic change.
Samsung has used variations of the individual camera-ring design across multiple generations, making it an important part of the Galaxy S identity.
A move towards a unified camera module could therefore signal a broader design refresh for the S27 generation.
It could also allow Samsung to rethink how its flagship phones interact with magnetic accessories if Qi2 compatibility becomes a major part of the design.
That said, the biggest question remains whether the new design will actually make the phone more practical—or simply give the Galaxy S27 a fresh appearance.
Galaxy S27 Launch: What We Know So Far
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S27 series in early 2027, following its established flagship cycle.
The lineup is likely to include multiple models, with the Galaxy S27 Ultra sitting at the top.
However, Samsung has not officially announced the launch date, specifications or final design.
For now, the reported 5,700mAh battery, 6.9-inch display, redesigned horizontal camera module, S Pen support and possible variable-aperture camera remain part of the rumour mill.
If Samsung follows through with the redesign, the Galaxy S27 series could arrive with a look that is noticeably different from the Galaxy S phones currently on the market.
The camera island may be the first major clue that Samsung is preparing more than just another routine flagship upgrade…
