Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra could reportedly feature a new horizontal camera module, 6.9-inch display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and a 5,700mAh battery.

Samsung could be preparing one of the biggest design changes to its Ultra smartphone lineup in years.

The upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra has reportedly appeared in design-related documentation, with leaks suggesting that Samsung may finally move away from the individual camera rings that have defined its recent flagship phones.

If the reports are accurate, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could arrive with a much more distinctive rear design and the camera module may be the biggest reason why.

Galaxy S27 Ultra could get a completely new camera design

Samsung’s Ultra smartphones have followed a familiar design language for several generations, with individual camera lenses arranged vertically on the rear panel.

That could change with the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

According to evidence reportedly spotted by Sammyguru in the WIPO design database, Samsung may be testing a design featuring three cameras positioned side-by-side inside a single horizontal camera module.

The change would be immediately noticeable.

Instead of several individual camera rings, the lenses could sit together within one unified housing. The leaked design also appears to show a smaller camera bump, potentially giving the phone a cleaner appearance and reducing the amount of protrusion from the rear panel.

Of course, design registrations and prototypes do not always translate directly into final commercial products. Samsung could still modify the design before launch.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra expected specifications

Alongside the design leak, tipster Ice Universe has reportedly shared several details about the phone’s expected hardware.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to feature a large 6.9-inch display, continuing Samsung’s tradition of offering a large screen on its highest-end Galaxy S model.

The phone is also expected to retain a quad-camera setup, with a 5x telephoto camera reportedly included among the rear sensors.

For selfies and video calls, the device could feature a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

The exact specifications of the remaining cameras remain unclear, meaning the final imaging capabilities are still difficult to assess.

Snapdragon power and a bigger battery

Under the hood, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to use a next-generation Snapdragon chipset.

Earlier reports have linked the phone to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, although Samsung has not confirmed the processor.

The smartphone could also receive a sizeable 5,700mAh battery, which would give it additional capacity for demanding users.

Charging speeds are reportedly being considered in the 45W to 65W range. If Samsung moves to 65W charging, it would represent a notable improvement for users accustomed to the company’s relatively conservative charging speeds.

However, the final charging specification remains unconfirmed.

Galaxy S27 Ultra price in India could cross ₹1.7 lakh

The premium positioning of the Galaxy S27 Ultra is also expected to be reflected in its price.

Current leaks suggest that the smartphone could start at approximately ₹1,49,990 in India.

The top-end configuration could reportedly reach around ₹1,74,990.

That would put Samsung’s next Ultra flagship firmly in the ultra-premium smartphone category, competing with the most expensive offerings from Apple, Xiaomi and other major manufacturers.

However, pricing this far ahead of launch should be treated cautiously. Storage configurations, taxes, exchange offers and Samsung’s final India pricing strategy can all affect the actual retail price.

A major visual change for Samsung?

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is still some time away from its expected launch, and Samsung has not officially confirmed any of these specifications.

But if the leaked design makes it to the final product, the camera module could become one of the most significant visual changes to Samsung’s Ultra series in recent years.

A horizontal camera housing, smaller bump, 6.9-inch display, possible Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset and a 5,700mAh battery would give the Galaxy S27 Ultra a substantially refreshed identity.

For now, however, Samsung fans will have to wait for more credible leaks and official announcements before the complete picture emerges.

One thing is already clear: if Samsung really abandons its familiar individual camera-ring design, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could look very different from the Ultra phones that came before it.
