Redmi 17C 5G has launched in India with a 6.9-inch 120Hz display, MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, 50MP camera and 6,000mAh battery.

Xiaomi has expanded its Redmi smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the new Redmi 17C 5G. The latest affordable 5G smartphone focuses on a large display and battery while also bringing a 120Hz refresh rate, 50MP main camera and MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset.

The smartphone succeeds the Redmi 15C 5G and will go on sale in India starting October 7, 2026.

Prices begin at ₹20,999, with Xiaomi offering two RAM configurations in the Indian market.

Redmi 17C 5G price in India

The Redmi 17C 5G has been priced at ₹20,999 for its base configuration featuring 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Customers wanting additional memory can opt for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version, priced at ₹22,999.

Sales are scheduled to begin on October 7.

Huge 6.9-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate

One of the biggest highlights of the Redmi 17C 5G is its display.

The smartphone features a massive 6.9-inch HD+ LCD panel supporting a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The display can deliver up to 810 nits of brightness in High Brightness Mode (HBM).

Xiaomi has also included TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Flicker Free and Circadian Friendly certifications, aimed at providing a more comfortable viewing experience.

The 120Hz refresh rate should make animations, scrolling and supported content appear smoother compared with conventional 60Hz displays.

MediaTek Dimensity 6300 powers the phone

Under the hood, the Redmi 17C 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 Mobile Platform, which also brings 5G connectivity to the device.

The smartphone comes with up to 6GB of physical RAM. With Xiaomi’s Memory Extension feature enabled, the company says users can access up to 12GB of combined memory for multitasking.

50MP AI camera on the back

For photography, Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi 17C 5G with a 50MP AI rear camera.

The camera includes shooting options such as Ultra HD, Portrait and Night modes, giving users multiple options for different lighting conditions and subjects.

On the front, the smartphone gets an 8MP selfie camera for selfies and video calls.

6,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging

Battery life is another major focus of the new Redmi smartphone.

The Redmi 17C 5G packs a sizeable 6,000mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging.

Xiaomi claims the battery is designed to retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,000 complete charging cycles. Real-world battery longevity, however, can vary depending on charging habits, temperatures and usage patterns.

HyperOS 3, Gemini and Circle to Search

On the software front, the Redmi 17C 5G runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.

The smartphone also supports Google Gemini and Circle to Search, although the availability of individual AI features can depend on software version, language, region and compatibility.

Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and Xiaomi’s 200% volume boost feature.

IP64 rating and Wet Touch Technology 2.0

Xiaomi has also paid attention to everyday durability.

The Redmi 17C 5G carries an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and water splashes under specified test conditions.

It also features Wet Touch Technology 2.0, designed to keep the touchscreen responsive even when a user’s fingers are damp, oily or soapy.

With its combination of a 6,000mAh battery, 120Hz display, 50MP camera and 5G connectivity, the Redmi 17C 5G enters another highly competitive segment of India’s smartphone market.

At ₹20,999 for the entry model, however, its real test will begin when it reaches buyers on October 7 and goes up against similarly priced 5G smartphones from rival brands.
