Oppo K15s, K15x Launched With Massive Batteries: One Packs 8,000mAh Cell, Check Prices and Features

Oppo has added two more smartphones to its growing K-series portfolio, and battery life is clearly at the heart of the latest launch.

The company has introduced the Oppo K15s and Oppo K15x in China, with both devices targeting buyers looking for large batteries, high-refresh-rate displays and relatively affordable 5G hardware.

The biggest highlight is the K15s, which manages to pack a huge 8,000mAh battery while keeping its thickness at 8.80mm. The more affordable K15x isn’t far behind when it comes to endurance, offering a sizeable 6,500mAh battery.

Both smartphones support 45W SuperVOOC fast charging and are available with up to 256GB of internal storage.

Oppo K15s, K15x prices

The Oppo K15s starts at CNY 1,699 (approximately Rs. 24,300) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model.

Its 8GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration is priced at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 28,600).

Oppo is offering the handset in Shadow Grey and Wind Trail Purple colourways.

The cheaper Oppo K15x, meanwhile, starts at CNY 1,399 (approximately Rs. 20,000) for its 6GB + 128GB configuration. The 6GB + 256GB version costs CNY 1,699 (approximately Rs. 24,300).

Buyers can choose between Glacier White and Prism Purple finishes.

For now, the smartphones have been introduced in China, and details regarding their availability in India or other international markets remain awaited.

Oppo K15s gets AMOLED display and 120Hz refresh rate

The Oppo K15s is the better-equipped smartphone of the two.

It sports a 6.57-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,372 × 1,080 pixels. The panel offers a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 240Hz touch sampling rate and up to 1,400 nits of global peak brightness.

Under the hood sits the MediaTek Dimensity 6360 MAX chipset, paired with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and as much as 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

50MP camera on Oppo K15s

For photography, Oppo has equipped the K15s with a 50-megapixel primary rear camera featuring an f/1.9 aperture and autofocus.

On the front, users get an 8-megapixel selfie camera for video calls and selfies.

The rear camera supports 1080p video recording at up to 60fps, along with stabilised video recording at 1080p and 720p resolutions.

8,000mAh battery is the real headline

While the display and processor make the K15s a competitive mid-range device, its battery is arguably the feature likely to attract the most attention.

Oppo has squeezed an enormous 8,000mAh battery inside the handset, complemented by 45W SuperVOOC Flash Charging.

Despite that capacity, the smartphone measures 8.80mm thick and weighs around 205 grams.

Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth, dual-SIM connectivity, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS, alongside a USB Type-C port.

Security is handled by an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, while facial recognition is also supported.

What does the cheaper Oppo K15x offer?

The Oppo K15x takes a more affordable approach while retaining some of the headline features of its sibling.

It features a larger 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 1,570 × 720 pixels. The screen still supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate, while global peak brightness is rated at up to 1,125 nits.

Performance comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, paired with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

Oppo K15x gets 13MP rear camera

The K15x features a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and an f/2.2 aperture.

Its front-facing camera uses a 5-megapixel sensor.

The main camera can capture video at up to 1080p 60fps, while the phone also supports 720p slow-motion recording at 120fps.

6,500mAh battery with 45W charging

Oppo has fitted the K15x with a sizeable 6,500mAh battery, again accompanied by 45W SuperVOOC Flash Charging.

Interestingly, the cheaper model retains a 3.5mm headphone jack, something that has disappeared from many modern smartphones.

Instead of the K15s’ in-display fingerprint reader, the K15x uses a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor.

The handset measures 8.61mm in thickness and weighs approximately 212 grams.

Two phones, but battery life takes centre stage

With the K15s and K15x, Oppo appears to be pushing battery capacity as one of the defining features of its affordable and mid-range smartphones.

The 8,000mAh K15s stands out for combining its giant battery with an AMOLED 120Hz display, 50MP camera and Dimensity 6360 MAX chipset. The K15x, meanwhile, lowers the entry price while retaining a 120Hz display, 5G chipset, 45W charging and a still-impressive 6,500mAh battery.

The key question for Indian buyers is whether Oppo plans to bring either model outside China. For now, the company has not announced their India launch dates or pricing.
