OnePlus India says its long-term strategy remains unchanged, highlighting strong sales growth, expanded service centres, and continued investment despite exit speculation.

As reports continue to circulate about OnePlus potentially winding down as a standalone brand in several international markets, the company’s India leadership has reiterated its commitment to one of its biggest markets.

In an exclusive interaction, Rahul Arora, Director of Sales and Affordability at OnePlus India, said the company’s long-term strategy in India remains unchanged despite ongoing speculation.“Our confidence comes from staying consistent in a market that has continuously evolved. Over the past five years, our focus has remained unchanged: delivering meaningful innovation, strong value and a dependable ownership experience for our users,” Arora said.

The statement comes at a time when reports have suggested that parent company Oppo could gradually phase out the OnePlus brand outside China by 2027. However, the company has not officially confirmed any such plans.

OnePlus Reports Strong Growth in India

Despite the rumours, OnePlus India says its business performance tells a different story.

According to CyberMedia Research (CMR) data shared by the company, OnePlus recorded 74% year-on-year growth during the first half of 2026.

The company also claimed to be the top-selling smartphone brand by volume on Amazon India during Prime Day Sale 2026, across all smartphone segments.

The growth has been driven largely by the Nord lineup, with the Nord 6, Nord CE 6, and Nord CE 6 Lite each becoming the best-selling smartphone in their respective price categories during their open sale periods on Amazon.

Expanding Product Portfolio Across Categories

OnePlus has significantly expanded its presence beyond smartphones in 2026.

Alongside its latest Nord smartphones, the company introduced several new devices, including:

  • OnePlus Pad Lite
  • OnePlus Pad Go 2
  • OnePlus Pad 4
  • Nord Buds 4
  • Nord Buds 4 Pro

According to Arora, the company’s tablet business grew 23% year-on-year during the first half of 2026, reflecting increasing consumer demand for premium yet value-focused devices.

After-Sales Network Continues to Grow

OnePlus believes after-sales support remains a key pillar of its long-term strategy.

The company says it now has access to more than 600 authorised service centres across over 500 cities in India through Oppo’s service infrastructure.

Arora described this growing support network as an important factor in building customer confidence and ensuring a dependable ownership experience.

Online-First Strategy, Not an Offline Exit

Recent reports about OnePlus reducing its offline retail presence sparked speculation that the company was preparing to leave India.

However, Arora clarified that the shift represents a renewed focus on its direct-to-consumer (D2C) strategy rather than an exit from physical retail.

While OnePlus is strengthening its online presence, it continues to work with retail partners such as Croma, Reliance Digital, Bajaj Electronics, and Vijay Sales. The company also operates flagship OnePlus Experience Stores in cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

According to the company, this hybrid approach allows it to maintain both digital convenience and offline customer support.

Affordability Remains a Priority

Recognising that many buyers are increasingly budget-conscious, OnePlus says affordability has become a central part of its sales strategy.

The company offers multiple purchase options, including:

  • No-Cost EMI
  • Instant bank discounts
  • Trade-in programmes
  • Upgrade offers
  • Student-focused promotional campaigns

These initiatives are designed to make premium smartphones more accessible, particularly for younger consumers.

Targeting Gen Z Through Experiences

Rather than relying solely on hardware specifications, OnePlus says it is focusing on experiences that resonate with Gen Z buyers.

Arora highlighted initiatives such as the Campus Dominate college outreach programme, which aims to engage more than 100,000 students this year.

The company has also partnered with Terribly Tiny Tales for storytelling-driven marketing campaigns targeted at younger, mobile-first audiences.

According to Arora, today’s consumers increasingly value community engagement, content creation, gaming experiences, and long-term software support alongside device performance.

OnePlus Signals Long-Term Commitment to India

While speculation surrounding OnePlus’ future in global markets continues, the company’s latest comments paint a different picture for India.

With 74% annual growth, an expanding product ecosystem, a growing after-sales network, and continued investment in students and digital communities, OnePlus appears focused on strengthening its position rather than scaling back.

Although the company has not directly addressed reports regarding its long-term global strategy, its recent investments and public statements suggest that India remains a key market for the brand’s future growth.
