Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Leak Reveals 7.9mm Body, Bigger 5,700mAh Battery; But This Camera Could Disappear…

The rumoured Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra could bring a larger 5,700mAh battery, a new 200MP camera, up to 65W charging and a next-generation 2nm chipset, while reportedly dropping one of the telephoto cameras found on previous Ultra models.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to feature a 7.9mm body, 5,700mAh battery and redesigned triple-camera setup, although Samsung has yet to confirm the leaked specifications.

Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy S27 Ultra is still some distance away from an official unveiling, but early leaks are already beginning to paint a picture of what could change on the company’s flagship smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra, expected to arrive sometime in early 2027, is tipped to retain the familiar Ultra design language while making some significant changes underneath. Among the most interesting claims are a 7.9mm body, a larger 5,700mAh silicon-carbon battery and a simplified triple-camera system.

The smartphone has also been tipped to weigh around 218 grams, making it slightly heavier despite maintaining a relatively slim profile.

It is important to note that Samsung has not officially confirmed these specifications, so the details should be treated as preliminary until the company announces the device.

Galaxy S27 Ultra Could Get a Bigger 5,700mAh Battery

One of the biggest upgrades could come in the battery department.

Leaks suggest Samsung could equip the Galaxy S27 Ultra with a 5,700mAh silicon-carbon battery, allowing the company to increase capacity without dramatically increasing the thickness of the device.

The phone is tipped to measure approximately 7.9mm thick and weigh 218 grams.

Charging speeds could also receive an upgrade. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumoured to support somewhere between 60W and 65W wired fast charging, along with 25W wireless charging and Qi2 support.

If accurate, these changes would address two areas — battery capacity and charging speed that remain important considerations for premium smartphone buyers.

Samsung May Remove the Dedicated 3x Telephoto Camera

Perhaps the biggest surprise in the latest leaks concerns the cameras.

Samsung is reportedly considering dropping the dedicated 3x telephoto camera, which would reduce the Ultra’s rear setup from four primary cameras to three.

The rumoured setup is headlined by a 200MP ISOCELL HP6 primary sensor, reportedly a customised version of Samsung’s HPC sensor.

It could be joined by a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera offering 5x optical zoom with an f/2.9 aperture.

That would represent a notable change in Samsung’s camera strategy, particularly for users accustomed to having separate zoom cameras covering different focal lengths.

The leaked design information also points towards a redesigned camera plateau, although conflicting reports mean its final shape and sensor arrangement remain far from certain.

Major Camera Processing Changes Also Tipped

Hardware may not be Samsung’s only focus.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to introduce changes to computational photography and image processing, potentially producing warmer colours and improved control over bright highlights.

Leaks also point towards improvements in low-light photography, including smoother images and reduced noise in darker portions of a photograph.

How much of an improvement these changes deliver will only become clear once the final hardware and software are available for testing.

6.9-Inch Display Could Look Very Familiar

Anyone expecting a dramatic redesign on the front may be disappointed.

Leaked information suggests the Galaxy S27 Ultra could retain a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with QHD+ resolution and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate.

The panel is rumoured to use newer M16 E7 OLED technology, potentially improving power efficiency by around 20% while allowing peak brightness to reach as high as 3,000 nits.

Samsung’s anti-reflective display treatment is also expected to return.

Perhaps more interestingly, leaked screen-protector information suggests the phone could have almost the same front profile as its predecessor, including similar bezels, curves and overall display dimensions.

A New Privacy Display Feature?

Samsung could also introduce an unusual display feature focused on privacy.

A rumoured Privacy Display mode could reduce viewing angles, making on-screen information more difficult for people beside the user to see.

Leaks suggest Samsung could take this further with split-screen privacy controls. In theory, this could allow sensitive information displayed in one app to receive privacy protection while another app remains normally visible.

Samsung has not yet detailed such a feature officially, so its implementation if it makes the final device remains unclear.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro or Exynos 2700?

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is also expected to move to a new generation of flagship processors.

Leaks have linked the smartphone with a future Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6-series chipset, reportedly manufactured using an advanced 2nm process.

Samsung could once again adopt a region-dependent chipset strategy, with some markets potentially receiving the rumoured Exynos 2700, which has also been linked to a 2nm manufacturing process.

Memory configurations are tipped to begin with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, while storage could extend up to 1TB using UFS 4.1 technology.

However, chipset names and configurations can change during development, particularly this far ahead of a product launch.

One UI 9.5 and Android 17 Expected

On the software side, the Galaxy S27 series is reportedly already undergoing development and optimisation.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to launch with One UI 9.5 based on Android 17.

Early reports point towards redesigned translucent interface elements, smoother animations and deeper AI-powered system search capabilities.

Samsung is also reportedly giving the software a longer development and testing window, potentially focusing on delivering a more polished experience when the Galaxy S27 series reaches consumers.

Galaxy S27 Ultra Price Could Rise

The upgrades may come with a higher price.

Early speculation has suggested a starting price of around $1,499, with rising component and manufacturing costs cited as possible factors.

That figure remains highly speculative, however. Samsung has not announced the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s pricing, launch date or official specifications, and regional prices including the price in India cannot yet be determined reliably.

With an expected launch still months away, hardware and software plans could also change before mass production begins.

For now, the most interesting possibility is the direction Samsung appears to be exploring: a bigger battery inside a slim body, faster charging, a next-generation 2nm processor and fewer rear cameras. Whether all of those changes survive into the retail Galaxy S27 Ultra will become clearer as its expected 2027 launch approaches.
