Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra leaks reveal a surprising redesign: New camera look, 5,700mAh battery and more tipped

Samsung may still be months away from unveiling its next-generation Ultra flagship, but the Galaxy S27 Ultra is already beginning to take shape through a growing trail of leaks. Fresh case renders have now surfaced online, apparently backing up earlier CAD-based images and suggesting that Samsung could be preparing a noticeable design change for its premium smartphone.

The latest leak is particularly interesting because it offers another glimpse at the phone’s redesigned rear camera area. And if the early information proves accurate, the visual changes may only be part of the story. Rumours surrounding the Galaxy S27 Ultra also point to a new-generation Snapdragon chipset, UFS 5.0 storage, a 200MP main camera and a larger 5,700mAh battery.

There is one important caveat, however: Samsung has not officially revealed the Galaxy S27 Ultra or confirmed any of these specifications yet. With the expected launch still some distance away, the final hardware and design could change.

Galaxy S27 Ultra case renders hint at redesigned camera module

The latest case renders were shared by tipster Sanju Chaudhary on X and appear to line up with previously leaked CAD renders of the smartphone.

According to the images, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a triple-camera system at the back housed within a redesigned camera arrangement. The change could give Samsung’s next Ultra phone a noticeably different appearance compared with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Case renders appearing this early do not guarantee the final design, though. Accessory makers can sometimes create products using preliminary dimensions and leaked schematics, meaning details can still change before mass production.

A 6.9-inch 2K LTPO display could return

The display is also expected to remain one of the major attractions of Samsung’s Ultra flagship.

Leaks suggest that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a 6.9-inch 2K LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an anti-reflective coating. Samsung is also tipped to introduce a second-generation privacy display, potentially adding another layer of protection when viewing sensitive content.

The smartphone is further rumoured to feature an aluminium frame, IP68 dust and water resistance and a body measuring around 7.97mm thick.

For users worried about Samsung abandoning one of the Ultra series’ signature productivity features, the leaks also suggest that S Pen support could continue with the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen Extreme 6 and UFS 5.0 storage tipped

Performance could be another area where the Galaxy S27 Ultra takes a substantial step forward.

The handset is rumoured to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen Extreme 6 chipset, although the final commercial branding of the processor remains unconfirmed. The chip could reportedly be paired with as much as 16GB of LPDDR6 RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 5.0 storage.

If these specifications make it to the retail model, Samsung’s flagship could offer significantly faster memory and storage performance, particularly for demanding apps, gaming, AI-powered features and high-resolution video recording.

200MP camera could headline the Galaxy S27 Ultra

Samsung appears unlikely to abandon the huge resolution numbers associated with its Ultra cameras.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to carry a 200MP primary camera, accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide sensor and a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. The ultra-wide camera is reportedly based on a 1/2.5-inch sensor.

On the front, leaks point towards a 16MP selfie camera for photos and video calls.

Camera specifications alone, however, will not tell the complete story. Samsung’s image processing, computational photography and software optimisation will ultimately play an equally important role in determining how much of an upgrade the S27 Ultra delivers over its predecessor.

Bigger 5,700mAh battery and 60W charging?

Another potentially meaningful upgrade could arrive inside the phone.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is reportedly being developed with a 5,700mAh battery, alongside support for 60W wired charging. The handset is also tipped to support 25W magnetic wireless charging.

Samsung has traditionally been more conservative with charging speeds than several rival Android manufacturers, so a move to 60W wired charging would be notable if the leak proves accurate.

The company is also expected to continue its long-term software strategy, with rumours suggesting seven years of software updates for the device.

When could Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra launch in India?

Samsung has not announced an official launch date for the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Based on the company’s flagship launch cycle and current rumours, the smartphone could reach India and global markets around late February or early March 2027. That timeline should still be treated as tentative until Samsung confirms its next Galaxy Unpacked event.

Early reports have also suggested a possible India price of around ₹1.6 lakh to ₹1.7 lakh, which would firmly position the S27 Ultra in the ultra-premium smartphone category. Pricing this far ahead of launch is particularly difficult to predict, however, and factors such as storage configurations, taxes and Samsung’s final market strategy could significantly affect the retail price.

For now, the most intriguing part of the leak is the emerging picture of Samsung’s next Ultra phone: a redesigned camera section, cutting-edge memory and storage, a huge 200MP camera, a larger battery and faster charging. Whether all of those upgrades survive until launch is something only Samsung’s official announcement will settle.
