BJP Reshuffles Organisation Ahead of 2027 Polls: Maharashtra, MP, Chhattisgarh Get New Faces, but Who Keeps Charge in UP?

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has carried out a significant organisational reshuffle, assigning senior functionaries fresh responsibilities across several states as the party strengthens its internal machinery ahead of upcoming electoral contests, including the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.

The appointments were announced by BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Thursday, September 24, and cover positions including National Joint General Secretaries (Organisation), State General Secretaries (Organisation), joint general secretaries and other organisational roles. The appointments take effect immediately.

Shivprakash gets five-state responsibility

At the national level, Shivprakash has been assigned organisational responsibility for Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa as National Joint General Secretary (Organisation), with Mumbai as his centre.

His previous responsibilities included Telangana and West Bengal, which are no longer part of his portfolio, while Goa has been added.

Meanwhile, Saudan Singh, another National Joint General Secretary (Organisation), has been entrusted with Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, operating from Bhubaneswar. He had earlier been handling Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.

Maharashtra sees major organisational changes

Some of the most notable changes have come in Maharashtra.

Ajay Jamwal has been appointed State General Secretary (Organisation) for Maharashtra, with Mumbai as his centre. Jamwal previously handled organisational responsibilities in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Satish Dhond has also moved to Maharashtra as State Joint General Secretary (Organisation). In addition, he has been given responsibility for Janjati Sampark across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, with Nagpur as his working centre.

New organisational faces in MP and Chhattisgarh

Jamwal’s move to Maharashtra has triggered changes elsewhere.

In Madhya Pradesh, Chandrashekhar has been appointed State General Secretary (Organisation). In neighbouring Chhattisgarh, Karmveer has been given the same organisational post after previously serving in Jharkhand.

Pawan Sai, meanwhile, has been appointed State General Secretary (Organisation) for Jharkhand, with Ranchi as his centre.

What changed in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh?

Madhukar, who previously handled Andhra Pradesh, will now oversee both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as State General Secretary (Organisation), with Hyderabad as his centre.

Dashrath has been appointed State Joint General Secretary (Organisation) for Telangana, operating from Warangal.

UP remains unchanged as 2027 election approaches

Despite the wider reshuffle, one politically significant state has seen continuity.

There has been no change in Uttar Pradesh’s State General Secretary (Organisation), with Dharampal continuing in the position.

The continuity comes as the BJP steps up its organisational preparations in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly election. The party has separately been making other organisational appointments in the state, including in-charges for its organisational districts.

Pawan Rana gets Delhi and Haryana

Another notable change involves Pawan Rana, who was handling Delhi and will now oversee both Delhi and Haryana as State General Secretary (Organisation).

Several other leaders have retained their existing responsibilities. Bhikhubhai Dalsania continues in Bihar, while Siddharthan remains in Himachal Pradesh.

Ratnakar continues to handle Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, while Phanindranath Sharma remains responsible for Uttarakhand. Manas Mohanty continues in Odisha, Mantri Srinivasulu in Punjab and Chandigarh, and Amitabh Chakraborty in West Bengal.

BJP assigns other specialised organisational roles

The reshuffle extends beyond state-level appointments.

Ravindra Raju continues to oversee Assam and Tripura, while Office Construction has also been included among his responsibilities. V. Satish has been assigned as Sangathak for the SC and ST Morchas and Parliamentary Office, while Nagendra has been entrusted with Varishth Karyakarta Sampark.

Arun Binnadi has been appointed State Joint General Secretary (Organisation) for Gujarat, while Abhay Giri has been assigned as Sangathak for Braj Kshetra.

Ananta Narayan Mishra has been given organisational responsibility as Sangathak for the Bhagalpur, Purnia and Kosi regions.

The latest appointments are part of a broader organisational exercise by the BJP, with the party also announcing state in-charges and co-in-charges as it prepares its organisational structure for upcoming electoral contests.
