Ram Charan enters the next phase of his recovery after having his wrist cast and rods removed, with a 10-week physiotherapy programme now reportedly ahead.

Ram Charan has taken an important step forward in his recovery from the wrist injury that required surgery earlier this year. The actor’s wrist cast and rods have now been removed, clearing the way for the next and equally important phase of rehabilitation.

The RRR star is expected to begin a structured 10-week physiotherapy programme as doctors work towards restoring strength, flexibility and movement in his right wrist.

How did Ram Charan injure his wrist?

The injury reportedly dates back to the filming of Buchi Babu Sana’s Peddi, in which Ram Charan plays a sportsman and wrestling champion.

The physically demanding role required the actor to perform strenuous wrestling and action sequences. He was diagnosed in May with a triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tear, an injury affecting structures that help support and stabilise the wrist.

Doctors initially opted for non-surgical treatment. However, when the problem persisted, Ram Charan underwent surgery at Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore in July.

With the cast and supporting rods now removed, his rehabilitation has entered a crucial new stage.

10 weeks of physiotherapy ahead

While removal of the cast is an encouraging development, Ram Charan’s recovery is not yet complete. He is expected to spend approximately 10 weeks undergoing physiotherapy, with the focus on gradually restoring normal wrist function.

The recovery will be particularly significant for an actor whose upcoming films are expected to involve extensive physical preparation and action.

This was also not Ram Charan’s only injury in recent months. The actor had earlier suffered an eyelid injury while filming in Hyderabad and underwent a minor procedure. His father, veteran Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi, later publicly thanked the doctor involved in his treatment.

Ram Charan already preparing for RC17

Even as he continues his recovery, Ram Charan has reportedly begun laying the groundwork for his next major project, tentatively known as RC17.

The film reunites him with filmmaker Sukumar, years after their acclaimed collaboration on Rangasthalam. Their reunion has naturally created considerable anticipation among Telugu cinema audiences.

Ram Charan is reportedly aiming for a leaner physical transformation for RC17. That would mark a noticeable change from the heavier, more muscular appearance required for Peddi.

A specialised diet and workout programme is reportedly being planned around the requirements of his new character, although his physical training will have to progress alongside his wrist rehabilitation.

What we know about RC17

Mythri Movie Makers is backing RC17, while composer Devi Sri Prasad is associated with the film’s music.

The project is reportedly being developed for a 2028 theatrical release, though the makers have yet to officially announce a release date.

For now, Ram Charan’s immediate priority remains his recovery. Getting the cast removed is an important milestone, but the coming 10 weeks of physiotherapy could determine how quickly the actor is able to return to unrestricted physical training.

With Peddi behind the injury and RC17 waiting ahead, the next few months could prove particularly important for the star.
