Samsung Galaxy A18 4G launched with 50MP camera and 5,000mAh battery: The price isn’t what Indian buyers expected…

Samsung has added another smartphone to its popular Galaxy A series with the launch of the Galaxy A18 4G. The new budget-focused handset combines a large Super AMOLED display with a 50MP camera system, a 5,000mAh battery and an unusually long software-support promise.

The smartphone has been launched in France with a starting configuration of 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. Its listed price is EUR 279, which works out to approximately ₹30,900 based on the conversion provided.

However, there is one important detail for Indian buyers: Samsung has not yet officially announced the Galaxy A18 4G’s India launch date or pricing.

Galaxy A18 4G price and colours

The Samsung Galaxy A18 4G is available in a single 4GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration in France at EUR 279.

The handset comes in three colour options:

• Black
• Grey
• Light Blue

While the international pricing provides an indication of where the phone could be positioned, Indian customers will have to wait for an official announcement before knowing its exact India price.

6.7-inch Super AMOLED display

One of the biggest attractions of the Galaxy A18 4G is its display.

The phone features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,080 × 2,340 pixels. The display also supports a 90Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling, animations and everyday navigation appear smoother than on conventional 60Hz screens.

The handset measures just 7.7mm in thickness and weighs approximately 196 grams.

Samsung has also given the device an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and water splashes.

Android 17 and six years of security updates

For selfies and video calls, the phone features a 13MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

The selfie camera can record Full HD video at 30fps, while HD slow-motion recording is supported at up to 120fps.

Battery life is another major part of the Galaxy A18 4G package.

The smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 25W wired fast charging.

According to Samsung, the battery can reach approximately 50% charge in around 30 minutes, although actual charging times can vary depending on conditions.

For everyday users who spend a lot of time watching videos, browsing social media or using navigation, the large battery capacity should provide plenty of endurance.

Connectivity and other features

The Galaxy A18 4G supports a broad selection of connectivity options, including 4G LTE, dual SIM functionality, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and a USB Type-C port.

For navigation and location services, the phone supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS.

What Indian buyers should know

The Galaxy A18 4G certainly looks interesting on paper, particularly because of its Super AMOLED display, 50MP primary camera, large battery and long software-support commitment.

But the most important question for Indian customers remains unanswered: how much will it cost in India?

The French price of EUR 279 cannot be treated as the final Indian price. Taxes, local pricing strategy, promotions and configuration differences can all affect the amount.

Until Samsung India confirms the Indian launch, buyers should therefore treat the international price only as a reference.

If Samsung brings the same combination of hardware and long-term software support to India at a competitive price, the Galaxy A18 4G could become an interesting option in the country’s crowded smartphone market.
