Hollywood actors Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have decided to go their separate ways after nine years of marriage, bringing an end to a relationship that began on stage before developing into a real-life romance and a family of four.

The couple confirmed their separation in a joint statement to People on September 15, revealing that the decision was not a sudden one. Seyfried and Sadoski said they had already been separated “for a while” and believed the change had ultimately worked for their family.

“We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit,” the pair said.

Despite ending their marriage, the actors made it clear that their relationship has not turned hostile, adding: “We’ve got each other forever—and it’s GOOD.”

The announcement marks the end of one of Hollywood’s relatively private celebrity marriages, with Seyfried and Sadoski having largely kept their children and day-to-day family life away from the spotlight.

Their relationship moved quickly from there.

Seyfried and Sadoski became engaged in 2016 and chose not to have a lavish Hollywood wedding. Instead, they quietly eloped in March 2017, opting for a deeply private ceremony.

Sadoski later revealed that they had gone into the countryside with an officiant and exchanged their vows without a traditional guest-filled celebration.

Now, nine years after their private 2017 wedding, that marriage has come to an end.
