Jennifer Garner reveals why she was asked to stop bringing her children to football practice: ‘It had gotten out of control’

Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner has shared an emotional account of how intense paparazzi attention affected her family life, revealing that she was once asked not to bring her children to football practice because the media frenzy had become a safety risk.

Speaking on the Shut Up Evan podcast, the actress reflected on the years she spent under constant public scrutiny during her marriage to fellow actor Ben Affleck, explaining how ordinary family activities often turned into chaotic public spectacles.

Football practice turned into a security concern

Recalling one of the most difficult moments, Jennifer Garner said the situation escalated when photographers repeatedly followed her car while she was taking her children to football practice.

She revealed that the local football association eventually requested that the family stop attending because the large number of paparazzi vehicles created dangerous conditions.”If I went through a yellow light, 15 cars would go through the red behind me,” Garner recalled.

She explained that the issue extended beyond her own family, saying the aggressive behaviour of photographers had reached an alarming level.”It wasn’t just about us. It was just an industry that had gotten out of control,” she said.

The 13 Going on 30 star also spoke about another distressing experience involving one of her children.

Garner recalled trying to take a sick child into a paediatrician’s office but finding her path blocked by photographers eager to capture images.

Reflecting on the incident, she said the relentless attention often came at the expense of children’s well-being.”There’s something wrong with that, and the kids are paying the price,” she said.

In that moment, she instinctively approached the photographer because he was someone she recognised and trusted.”I was followed by someone who, for whatever reason, I thought was going to hurt me, and I ran to him because I knew him and trusted him,” she shared.
