Modi served as Gujarat Chief Minister from 2001 until 2014 before becoming Prime Minister of India in May 2014. He has now spent more than 12 years in the Prime Minister’s post.

What Is the Prime Minister’s Basic Salary?
Current media reports put Modi’s basic monthly salary as Prime Minister at ₹1 lakh. The office also comes with allowances and official facilities, meaning basic salary alone does not represent the complete remuneration package.
These benefits can include official accommodation, travel and other facilities associated with the Prime Minister’s responsibilities.
From ₹58,521 to ₹1 Lakh: What Is the Difference?
Using the reported figures, the comparison is straightforward.
Modi’s monthly remuneration as Gujarat CM in 2014 was reported at ₹58,521, while the Prime Minister’s basic monthly salary is reported at ₹1,00,000.

That leaves a difference of:
₹1,00,000 − ₹58,521 = ₹41,479 per month
In percentage terms, the increase works out to approximately 70.87%.
The calculation is:
(₹41,479 ÷ ₹58,521) × 100 = 70.87%
In other words, comparing these two reported salary figures shows an increase of roughly 71%.
There’s an Important Catch in the Comparison
The figures should be read with some caution. The ₹58,521 figure relates to Modi’s reported remuneration as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2014, while the ₹1 lakh figure represents the reported basic salary attached to the Prime Minister’s office.
Allowances and official facilities are separate, so the 70.87% figure is a comparison of the cited salary amounts rather than a calculation of the total financial value of the two offices.
