Vvaan Box Office Day 3: Sidharth Malhotra Breaks His 11-Year Record… But Two Films Are Still Ahead

Sidharth Malhotra appears to have found some much-needed box-office momentum with The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest.

The Deepak Kumar Mishra-directed action-adventure fantasy may have received largely negative reviews from critics, but audiences have helped the film put together a surprisingly solid opening weekend.

After three days, Vvaan has collected an estimated ₹33.25 crore net in India, while its domestic gross stands at around ₹39.65 crore. Its worldwide collection has reached approximately ₹43.15 crore.

More significantly for Sidharth, the film has delivered his third-highest opening weekend at the Indian box office — and his biggest opening weekend in around 11 years.

Vvaan sees its biggest jump on Sunday

The film began its theatrical run with an estimated ₹8 crore on Friday.

Business improved on Saturday, when the film collected approximately ₹11.25 crore, before registering another noticeable jump on its first Sunday.

On Day 3, Vvaan earned around ₹14 crore, representing growth of roughly 24% over Saturday.

That takes its three-day domestic net collection to:

Friday – ₹8 crore
Saturday – ₹11.25 crore
Sunday – ₹14 crore

Opening Weekend Total – ₹33.25 crore net

The upward movement across all three days suggests that the film managed to attract more moviegoers over the weekend despite its critical reception.

Negative reviews haven’t stopped Vvaan yet

One of the more interesting aspects of Vvaan’s opening is that it has arrived amid largely unfavourable critical reviews.

Yet its box-office performance has continued to improve through the weekend.

The film is also competing against existing theatrical releases, including Hanuman Ansh and Mirzapur: The Movie.

According to reported box-office estimates, Vvaan added approximately ₹1.25 crore overseas on Sunday, taking its international collection to around ₹3.50 crore.

Its worldwide gross is estimated at ₹43.15 crore, meaning the Indian market is currently responsible for the overwhelming majority of its global business.

UP and Bihar emerge as important markets

The film’s subject may also be playing a role in its regional performance.

Vvaan draws upon folk-horror elements and rituals associated with Chhath Puja, potentially giving the film stronger cultural familiarity in parts of northern India.

It has reportedly maintained particularly notable business in centres across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The movie is co-produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and The Viral Fever (TVF) and also stars Tamannaah Bhatia and Sunil Grover alongside Sidharth Malhotra.

Sidharth Malhotra gets his third-biggest opening weekend

Beyond the film’s overall numbers, Vvaan has delivered a notable milestone for its leading man.

Its ₹33.25 crore opening weekend has surpassed the approximately ₹30 crore opening weekend of Sidharth’s 2012 debut, Student of the Year.

That makes Vvaan his third-highest opening weekend so far.

Only two films remain ahead.

Brothers (2015), co-starring Akshay Kumar, recorded an opening weekend of approximately ₹52 crore, while Ek Villain (2014) collected around ₹50.65 crore.

This means Vvaan has delivered Sidharth’s strongest opening weekend since those releases more than a decade ago.

Vvaan has already beaten lifetime collections of some Sidharth films

Perhaps even more strikingly, Vvaan’s first three days have already taken it beyond the reported lifetime domestic collections of some of Sidharth Malhotra’s previous releases.

The film’s ₹33.25 crore weekend is already higher than the lifetime domestic business reported for Jabariya Jodi, at approximately ₹25.24 crore, and Aiyaary, at around ₹30.59 crore.

Its next target could be A Gentleman, which finished its domestic theatrical run at approximately ₹38.33 crore.

If Vvaan maintains reasonable weekday collections, that figure could soon be within reach.

The real test begins on Monday

A strong weekend is encouraging, but the film’s bigger box-office test begins with its first Monday.

Weekend growth can be driven by increased leisure audiences, while weekday collections generally provide a clearer indication of whether a film has sustained theatrical interest.

There is also fresh competition approaching.

Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s Drishyam 3, directed by Abhishek Pathak, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 2, giving Vvaan only a limited window to maximise its run before another major Hindi release enters theatres.

For now, though, the numbers have given Sidharth Malhotra something significant to celebrate.

Eleven years after Ek Villain and Brothers delivered two of the biggest opening weekends of his career, Vvaan has finally put him back above the ₹30-crore opening-weekend mark.

Whether the film can turn that start into a sustained theatrical run will become clearer over the next few days.
