Prasidh Krishna Ruled Out of 3rd ODI vs West Indies: CSK Pacer Gets Call-Up, But Will He Make India Debut?
Prasidh Krishna is set to miss India’s third and final ODI against the West Indies after suffering a hamstring injury in Guwahati. Anshul Kamboj has reportedly been called up as his replacement, although Mohammed Siraj remains a strong option for the playing XI.
India have suffered an injury setback ahead of the third and final ODI against the West Indies, with fast bowler Prasidh Krishna set to miss the match because of a hamstring problem.
Prasidh sustained the injury during the second ODI in Guwahati on Wednesday, September 30. The pacer managed only five overs, finishing with figures of 1 for 45, before leaving the field.
India still went on to register a remarkable eight-wicket victory, chasing down West Indies’ 405/7 with 39 balls remaining to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
The final ODI is scheduled to be played in New Chandigarh on October 3.
What happened to Prasidh Krishna?
Prasidh opened the bowling for India and completed four overs in his initial spell. He returned for another over later in the West Indies innings but did not bowl again.
India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak subsequently confirmed that the fast bowler had suffered a hamstring strain and was being monitored.
Prasidh is expected to undergo further assessment as India look to determine the extent of the injury.
The setback comes after he played a role in India’s first two victories of the series, which have already ensured that the hosts cannot lose the ODI contest.
Anshul Kamboj reportedly called up
According to reports, Chennai Super Kings pacer Anshul Kamboj has been called up to replace Prasidh in India’s squad for the final ODI.
Kamboj had been representing India A against Australia A in Puducherry.
He reportedly left the India A camp after receiving the call-up. In the first innings of the ongoing unofficial Test, Kamboj delivered 17.3 overs and claimed three wickets for 34 runs. He subsequently bowled two overs in the second innings before departing.
The 25-year-old has already experienced international cricket, having played a Test for India against England in Manchester in July 2025, but he is yet to make his debut for the country in white-ball cricket.
Will Anshul Kamboj play the third ODI?
Being added to the squad doesn’t necessarily guarantee Kamboj a place in India’s XI.
Mohammed Siraj is already part of the ODI squad but was not selected for either of the first two matches against West Indies.
With Prasidh unavailable, Siraj could therefore be the more straightforward replacement in India’s pace attack.
However, there could still be an opportunity for Kamboj depending on how many changes the team management decides to make for the dead rubber.

Auqib Nabi’s place could also come under consideration
Another selection decision surrounds Auqib Nabi, who made his India debut during the series.
If the team management decides to alter the bowling combination for the third ODI, Kamboj could potentially come into contention alongside Siraj.
Kamboj offers useful flexibility. Apart from operating with the new ball and providing a wicket-taking pace option, he can contribute runs lower down the batting order.
His performances for Chennai Super Kings in the 2026 IPL season have also strengthened his case for further opportunities at the international level.
India have already sealed the series

India will head into the third ODI with the series already secured.
After winning the opening match in Thiruvananthapuram by eight wickets, India produced an extraordinary chase in Guwahati. Shubman Gill smashed an unbeaten 223, while Rohit Sharma scored 101, helping India successfully chase 406 — the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history.
With a 2-0 lead, captain Gill and the team management now have room to experiment with their combination in the final match.
Prasidh’s injury has forced at least one change into the equation. The bigger question is whether India turn to the experienced Mohammed Siraj or hand Anshul Kamboj an opportunity to make his ODI debut.
