Sunny Deol’s period drama ‘Batwara 1947’ has entered Day 7 of its theatrical run, but the film is facing a noticeable slowdown after a strong opening weekend.

The Rajkumar Santoshi directorial has managed to cross the ₹32 crore mark in India net collections, but its weekday performance has been considerably softer. With the film competing for screens against Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Awarapan 2’, which has emerged as the stronger performer during the opening week, the road ahead is becoming increasingly challenging.

At the current live tally, ‘Batwara 1947’ is around ₹2.75 crore away from the ₹35 crore India net milestone.

The bigger question, however, is whether the film can maintain enough shows and audience interest when the second weekend arrives.

‘Batwara 1947’ Day 7 Box Office Collection LIVE

According to Sacnilk, ‘Batwara 1947’ has so far collected approximately ₹0.26 crore net on Day 7, based on the live figures available at the time of writing.

The film is currently running across around 2,988 shows.

With the latest live numbers included, the movie’s India net collection has reached approximately ₹32.41 crore, while its India gross collection stands at around ₹38.48 crore.

The final Day 7 figure is yet to be reported and could change as more shows are added to the tally.

Day-Wise Collection of ‘Batwara 1947’

The film opened with ₹5.75 crore on Day 1 before witnessing a massive jump on its first Saturday.

Day 2 brought in approximately ₹13.50 crore, representing a rise of more than 130% over the opening day.

The momentum cooled on Sunday, with Day 3 earning around ₹7.25 crore.

The first Monday brought a sharp decline, with collections dropping to ₹2 crore on Day 4. The film saw a small improvement on Tuesday, earning approximately ₹2.25 crore on Day 5.

However, collections fell again on Day 6, when the film made around ₹1.40 crore.

With the Day 7 live figure currently standing at ₹0.26 crore, the film’s India net total has reached ₹32.41 crore so far.

‘Batwara 1947’ Worldwide Box Office

The film has also been adding to its overseas earnings during the opening week.

As per the figures provided, overseas collections stood at approximately ₹1.50 crore on Day 1, followed by ₹2 crore each on Days 2 and 3.

The overseas market contributed around ₹0.75 crore on Day 4, while Days 5 and 6 added approximately ₹0.50 crore each.

This puts the film’s overseas gross collection at around ₹7.25 crore after six days.

Its worldwide gross collection had reached approximately ₹45.42 crore by the end of Day 6.

‘Awarapan 2’ Clash Creates Another Challenge

One of the major hurdles for ‘Batwara 1947’ is the ongoing competition from ‘Awarapan 2’.

The Emraan Hashmi starrer has reportedly crossed the ₹100 crore net mark in India during its first week and has maintained a significantly stronger hold over screens, particularly in multiplexes.

That puts additional pressure on Sunny Deol’s film as exhibitors assess which title can deliver stronger occupancy during the second weekend.

For ‘Batwara 1947’, crossing ₹35 crore may be within reach. Sustaining its theatrical run beyond that milestone, however, could prove much harder if screen availability continues to shrink.

Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, ‘Batwara 1947’ is a period drama set against the backdrop of the Partition of India.

The film explores the human cost of Partition through characters from different communities as they navigate displacement, political upheaval, violence and personal loss during one of the most defining moments in Indian history.

The film features Sunny Deol in the lead role, alongside Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh and Kanikka Kapur.

After a powerful second-day surge, the film has struggled to maintain the same momentum during the working week.

Now, with the ₹35 crore milestone within sight, the focus shifts to the second weekend — and whether ‘Batwara 1947’ can hold its ground against a much stronger competitor.
