Suriya Turns ‘Psycho’ Cop Inbaraj in Scene First Glimpse; Diwali Release Confirmed… ‘Who Killed Whom?’
Suriya 47 is officially titled Scene, with director Jithu Madhavan bringing his signature mix of dark humour and action to Tamil cinema. The film will hit theatres on November 6, 2026.
Suriya is putting on the police uniform again but his latest character appears to be anything but a conventional cinematic cop.
The actor’s much-awaited 47th film, previously known as Suriya 47, has officially been titled Scene. The makers unveiled the film’s first glimpse on Wednesday and simultaneously confirmed that it will arrive in cinemas during the Diwali season on November 6, 2026.
Sharing the announcement, Suriya wrote, “Hi Dear All, Here’s a glimpse into Scene. In cinemas from 6th Nov 2026.”
But it is the personality of Suriya’s character Inbaraj that has immediately become the biggest talking point.
‘Who killed whom?’ Suriya arrives as Inbaraj
The Scene glimpse wastes little time establishing its unusual tone.
It opens with a voice questioning someone’s character before the visuals shift to Suriya arriving at a crime scene dressed as a police officer.
His first question is remarkably straightforward: “Who killed whom?”
When he asks a constable, the response is equally sharp: “You are here to find that out.”
The exchange quickly establishes that Scene isn’t necessarily aiming for the familiar ultra-serious police thriller formula.
Instead, Suriya’s Inbaraj appears eccentric, intimidating and unpredictable.
Another character is heard complaining about his behaviour, describing the officer as someone who sits around showing attitude and smoking leisurely before simply calling him a “Psycho!”
A jail warden adds to Inbaraj’s reputation, explaining that suspects begin behaving strangely when they see him.
The glimpse then shows the officer confronting prisoners and ordering them back into their cells, giving audiences a taste of the character’s more threatening side.
Avesham director makes his Tamil debut
Another major reason Scene has generated interest is the filmmaker behind it.
The movie is written and directed by Jithu Madhavan, best known for the 2024 Malayalam blockbuster Aavesham starring Fahadh Faasil.
Scene marks Jithu Madhavan’s Tamil directorial debut.
The first glimpse already appears to carry traces of the filmmaker’s distinctive approach, blending dark comedy, swagger, eccentric characters and bursts of raw action.
Suriya’s Inbaraj appears particularly suited to that world — a police officer whose unpredictable personality could be as important to the story as the crimes he investigates.
Nazriya Nazim joins Suriya for the first time
The cast also brings together some notable names from the Tamil and Malayalam film industries.
Nazriya Nazim plays the female lead, marking her first collaboration with Suriya.
Naslen, who has emerged as one of Malayalam cinema’s prominent younger actors following a string of successful films, will also be seen in an important role.
The supporting cast includes John Vijay, Anandraj, Lal and Raj Priyan.

Behind the camera, Vineeth Augustian handles cinematography, while Ajmal Sabu serves as editor. Ashwini Kale is the production designer, and Chethan D’Souza is responsible for the film’s action choreography.
Arun Appukuttan serves as co-director, with MP Senthil as executive producer and Shifina Babin Pakker handling casting.
Suriya and Jyothika back Scene as producers
Scene is produced by Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment, with Suriya and Jyothika serving as producers. Jaishree Damodaran is attached as co-producer.
The project adds another major release to what has been a busy period for Suriya.

Scene is set to become his third theatrical release of 2026, following Vishwanath and Sons and Karuppu.
Another project, currently referred to as Suriya 48, is also in development. Directed by TJ Gnanavel and backed by Hombale Films, the film reportedly features Kayadu Lohar and Yogi Babu alongside Suriya.
Scene gets November 6 Diwali release
The makers have officially locked November 6, 2026, as the theatrical release date for Scene, positioning the film as a major Diwali-season attraction.
With the filmmaker behind Aavesham making his Tamil debut, Nazriya Nazim and Naslen joining the ensemble and Suriya playing an eccentric cop who appears to operate by his own rules, the first glimpse has deliberately left plenty unanswered.
The biggest mystery, however, is Inbaraj himself.
Is he an unconventional but brilliant investigator, a dangerous cop hiding behind the badge, or something completely different?
For now, Scene isn’t revealing the answer and that mystery may be exactly what its first glimpse wants audiences talking about.
