Parineeti Chopra reveals she was pregnant while filming Shaque, jokes it was son Neer’s ‘screen debut’

Parineeti Chopra is gearing up for her digital debut with Netflix’s Shaque: Trust No One, but there is a deeply personal story behind the making of the series. At its official trailer launch, the actress revealed that she was pregnant while filming the project and opened up about how the cast, crew and her family supported her through the demanding shoot.

Parineeti said she discovered her pregnancy only after production had already started. Instead of stepping away from the series, she informed the makers, who, according to the actress, immediately worked to ensure that filming could continue without compromising her health or comfort.

The situation was particularly challenging because significant portions of Shaque were being filmed across the mountainous locations of Shimla and Chail.

Shaque team changed plans for Parineeti

Filming in the hills meant long journeys on winding roads and physically demanding locations. To reduce the strain on Parineeti, the production team reportedly made several logistical adjustments.

The actress revealed that arrangements were made for her to stay directly at the shooting location, allowing her to avoid lengthy daily drives through the mountains. This also gave her more time to rest between scenes.

The makers also modified certain action sequences according to what Parineeti was comfortable performing during her pregnancy, while trying to preserve the original vision of the series.

Parineeti credited the director and production team for ensuring she never felt like her pregnancy was creating difficulties for the project. Their support, she indicated, helped remove the guilt she might otherwise have felt about changes being made to the shooting schedule.

Raghav Chadha rushed to Shimla after pregnancy news

Parineeti also recalled how her family rallied around her after learning about the pregnancy.

Her husband, Raghav Chadha, travelled to Shimla to stay close to her during the shoot. Her mother, mother-in-law and brothers also visited her on location.

The actress jokingly recalled that so many members of her family arrived that the production crew may have wondered whether the entire family had become part of the shoot.

She also gave the experience an adorable twist by joking that Shaque: Trust No One represents a kind of “screen debut” for her son, Neer, since she was carrying him while filming the series.

Shaque: Trust No One marks an important milestone for Parineeti as she steps into the streaming space with a story built around trust, suspicion and complicated human relationships.

The series has been created by Rensil D’Silva and Siddharth P. Malhotra, with D’Silva also directing the project. Sapna Malhotra and Siddharth P. Malhotra have produced it under the Alchemy Filmz banner.

The show also brings together a notable ensemble cast featuring Jennifer Winget, Soni Razdan, Anup Soni, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harleen Sethi, Sumeet Vyas and Dhruv Chowdhary alongside Parineeti.

When will Shaque release on Netflix?

Shaque: Trust No One is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 24.

While audiences will have to wait until then to discover the mysteries and suspicions at the heart of the series, Parineeti’s revelation has already given the project a special personal significance.

For the actress, the shoot was not simply her entry into the digital world. It was also a period when her professional and personal lives unexpectedly came together making Shaque a project she is unlikely to forget.
