‘Awarapan 2’ OTT Release: Prime Video Emerges as Streaming Home, but When Will Emraan Hashmi’s Film Arrive?
The successful sequel is expected to make its digital debut between late September and early October 2026, although its exact streaming date remains unannounced.
Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 is continuing its theatrical run, but fans are already waiting to experience Shivam Pandit’s latest journey from the comfort of their homes.
Released in cinemas on August 14, 2026, ahead of the Independence Day holiday, the film brought Hashmi back to one of his most memorable characters nearly two decades after the original Awarapan arrived in 2007.
While its theatrical success has generated renewed interest in the franchise, attention is now turning towards one major question: When and where will Awarapan 2 begin streaming?
Where will ‘Awarapan 2’ stream?
Reports indicate that Amazon Prime Video has acquired the film’s post-theatrical streaming rights. The platform’s association was reportedly displayed in the movie’s opening credits, although the filmmakers and Prime Video have not separately announced the digital premiere date.
Until the platform or producers issue a formal release announcement, viewers should treat the proposed streaming timeline as tentative.
According to current reports, Awarapan 2 is likely to become available on Prime Video after completing its theatrical window. The Times of India
When could ‘Awarapan 2’ release on OTT?
Hindi films generally move to streaming services around six to eight weeks after their theatrical debut, although the exact gap depends on the agreement between producers, exhibitors and the digital platform.
If Awarapan 2 follows a theatrical window of approximately 45 to 60 days, it could begin streaming sometime between the final week of September and the first half of October 2026.
One possible window places its digital premiere between September 25 and October 9. However, this is an estimate based on the film’s theatrical release date and common industry practices not an officially confirmed schedule.

The movie’s strong theatrical performance could also influence the final date. Producers sometimes extend the cinema-exclusive window when a film continues to attract audiences.
What is ‘Awarapan 2’ about?
The sequel brings back Emraan Hashmi as Shivam Pandit, a former gangster attempting to leave his violent past behind.
His fragile peace is shattered after a group of children is abducted in Thailand, forcing him to return to the criminal world he once abandoned. Among the kidnapped children is an infant whom Shivam names Aaliyah, after the woman he loved and lost.

The mission becomes more than a rescue operation for Shivam. It forces him to confront the memories, guilt and emotional wounds that have continued to define his life since the events of the first film.
The story retains the franchise’s central themes of freedom, redemption, love and sacrifice, while placing Shivam inside a larger action-driven conflict.
‘Awarapan 2’ cast and director
The action thriller is directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced under the Vishesh Films banner.
Alongside Emraan Hashmi, the movie features Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi and Suvinder Vicky in important roles. The supporting cast also includes Puran Gabbi, Aniruddh Rawal, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar.
The sequel was designed to appeal to longtime fans of the 2007 cult film while introducing Shivam’s story to a younger audience.

A strong opening against ‘Batwara 1947’
Awarapan 2 reportedly opened with approximately ₹22 crore net in India, giving Emraan Hashmi one of the biggest solo openings of his career.
The movie was reportedly produced on a budget ranging between ₹25 crore and ₹45 crore. Its strong opening weekend helped it recover its reported production cost quickly and establish a clear lead over its Independence Day competitor.
Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, which arrived during the same weekend, collected an estimated ₹5.75 crore net on its first day.
The box-office success of Awarapan 2 could encourage the producers to maximise its theatrical run before confirming the OTT premiere. For now, Prime Video appears to be its expected digital home, with a release likely around late September or early October.
Fans should wait for an announcement from the platform or filmmakers before treating any specific date as final.
