In a significant development in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case, Telugu superstar Allu Arjun appeared virtually before the Nampally Court on Monday, instead of attending the hearing in person as directed earlier.

The case stems from a tragic incident during the screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule in December 2024, where a stampede reportedly led to the death of a woman, raising serious concerns about crowd management and safety at public events.

Why Allu Arjun Appeared Virtually

The court had issued summons directing the actor to appear in person on June 22. However, Allu Arjun sought special permission to attend the proceedings virtually, citing his ongoing film shoot in Mumbai.

His legal team confirmed the development, stating that “he will appear virtually before the court after seeking permission due to his current shooting schedule.” The court accepted his request, allowing him to join the hearing remotely.

Court Proceedings and Case Details

According to legal representatives, the case involves 23 accused, with Allu Arjun listed as accused number 11 (A11) by the police. The hearing on Monday was part of preliminary proceedings where the accused were expected to appear before the magistrate.

Advocate Bhanu Chander, representing the theatre management, informed the media that “one or two accused failed to appear before the court” during the hearing. He further explained that the appearance was related to filing a committal bond in connection with the case.

Hearing Adjourned to July

Following the proceedings, the Nampally Court decided to adjourn the hearing to July, giving time for the remaining formalities and ensuring the presence of all accused in the next session.

The tragic incident occurred during a screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule, one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. The overwhelming crowd reportedly led to chaos inside the theatre premises, ultimately resulting in a fatal stampede.

The case has since drawn widespread attention, not only because of the loss of life but also due to the involvement of high-profile names linked to the film and the theatre management.

What Lies Ahead

As the case progresses, the court is expected to closely examine accountability, safety measures, and the role of each accused. With the next hearing scheduled for July, all eyes will remain on how the legal proceedings unfold in this high-profile matter.
