“Beta, Surgery Kyun Karni Hai?”: Akansha Ranjan Kapoor opens up on freezing her eggs, reveals parents’ emotional reaction
The ‘Gram Chikitsalay’ actor speaks candidly about her decision to freeze her eggs, calling it a “smart” choice and sharing how her parents stood by her.
Mumbai: Actress Akansha Ranjan Kapoor has opened up about one of the most personal and important decisions of her life choosing to freeze her eggs.
In a candid conversation, the actress shared why she decided to take the step and how her family reacted when she first brought up the subject. For Akansha, it was less about convincing her parents and more about helping them understand her perspective.
The actress revealed that at this stage in her life, her parents trust her judgment completely.
“I think I am at that age where my parents fully trust my judgement and I don’t really have to convince them for one thing or the other,” she said.
Akansha explained that this trust gave her the freedom and confidence to make decisions about her future without pressure.
Talking about her father’s reaction, she said he approached the decision with curiosity rather than concern. Since the concept was unfamiliar to him, he wanted to understand the emotional and medical reasons behind it.
“For my dad, it was more about understanding it because he doesn’t come from that school of thought. Obviously, he’s also not a woman, so he doesn’t understand the intricacies of our bodies and biological clocks,” she shared.
According to Akansha, his questions came from a genuine place of wanting to learn.
Her mother, however, had a more emotional first reaction.
Recalling the moment, Akansha said her mother was initially worried about the medical aspect of the process.
“My mother was like, ‘Beta, surgery kyun karni hai?’ She was a little worried in the beginning,” Akansha revealed.

But once she explained her reasons, her mother quickly understood and became one of her strongest supporters.
“She said, ‘I trust you and you should do it,’” the actress shared.

Her father too eventually backed her fully, telling her he was proud of her—even if he didn’t completely understand the process.
Looking back, Akansha believes freezing her eggs was the right step and an empowering decision for her future.
“I genuinely think it was the right and smart decision to take,” she said.
The actress’ honesty around the topic has sparked conversations around women’s reproductive choices and how more public figures speaking openly about it can help normalize such decisions.
On the professional front, Akansha is gearing up for the second season of ‘Gram Chikitsalay’, where fans will soon see her back on screen.
