BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla says Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will get his chance, urging patience over the youngster’s India debut.

The wait for young batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to make his international debut continues, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now responded to the growing buzz around the teenager’s absence from the playing XI.

With fans and former cricketers repeatedly questioning why the highly-rated youngster remains on the bench despite being part of India’s squad, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has now offered clarity on the matter.

Speaking on the issue, Shukla made it clear that Sooryavanshi remains a key prospect for Indian cricket and that his opportunity will come at the right time.“Vaibhav is popular and talented, and that is why he is in the team. He will get his chance. The team management will decide when the right time is,” Shukla said.

Why Is Vaibhav Still Waiting?

The delay in Sooryavanshi’s debut has become a major talking point, especially after his rapid rise through domestic cricket and his growing reputation as one of India’s brightest young talents.

His inclusion in the national squad had raised expectations that his debut was imminent. However, the team management has so far preferred experienced names in the batting order.

This has sparked debate among fans, particularly as some senior players have struggled for consistency in recent matches.

Management Backing Experience for Now

Sources within Indian cricket suggest the management wants to ease Sooryavanshi into international cricket rather than rush him into high-pressure situations.

Given India’s packed T20 calendar and major tournaments ahead, selectors are believed to be planning his introduction carefully.

Shukla’s statement also signals that the board remains fully invested in the youngster’s future, even if his debut is taking longer than many expected.

Patience Could Be Key

At just a young age, Sooryavanshi has already generated immense hype — something rarely seen for a player yet to debut at the senior international level.

Cricket experts believe that while the anticipation is understandable, patience may benefit both the player and the team in the long run.

For now, India’s fans will have to wait a little longer.

But if the BCCI’s latest assurance is anything to go by, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s India cap may not be far away.
