Team India gears up for the Ireland T20I series in Belfast, with all eyes on teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and new captain Shreyas Iyer.

A fresh chapter in Indian T20 cricket begins today.

The T20 World Cup champions India are all set to face Ireland in a two-match T20I series starting on June 26 in Belfast, and the excitement around this tour is bigger than usual.

The biggest reason? A 15-year-old prodigy named Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

The teenage batter has earned his maiden India call-up and is already one of the most talked-about names in the squad. Fans are eagerly waiting to see whether the selectors hand him his debut in the short Ireland series before the much-anticipated five-match battle against England next month.

But Vaibhav isn’t the only big storyline.

This series will also mark the beginning of a new leadership era for Shreyas Iyer, who takes charge as India’s new T20I captain after replacing Suryakumar Yadav.

Interestingly, Iyer was not part of India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad, but his consistent performances in the IPL convinced selectors to hand him the responsibility.

That decision has already sparked plenty of debate.

Meanwhile, India have been dealt an injury blow ahead of the series.

All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out due to a quadriceps injury, with Mumbai youngster Suryansh Shedge receiving his first India call-up as replacement.

The series may be short, but it offers crucial opportunities.

For young stars like Vaibhav and Suryansh, this could be the perfect stage to impress. For experienced names like Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, and Arshdeep Singh, it’s about cementing their spots ahead of bigger assignments.
