Abhishek Sharma’s fiery reaction after Ishan Kishan’s run-out goes viral, Gavaskar points fingers at one player “Kya Kar Raha Hai?”
Ishan Kishan’s forgettable duck overshadowed his rise to No.1 in T20I rankings as a chaotic run-out sparked debate, with Sunil Gavaskar delivering a blunt verdict.
India’s opening T20I clash against England had everything — explosive batting, a dramatic run-out, and eventually, rain playing spoilsport. But amid all the action, it was Ishan Kishan’s unfortunate dismissal and Abhishek Sharma’s heated reaction that stole the spotlight.
Fresh off becoming the world’s No.1 ranked T20I batter, Ishan Kishan walked into the match with huge expectations. However, his outing ended in disappointment as the wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed for a two-ball duck after a costly mix-up with partner Abhishek Sharma.
The incident unfolded early in India’s innings when Kishan attempted a quick single that was clearly not on. Abhishek instantly turned it down, leaving Kishan stranded halfway down the pitch. As the throw hit the stumps, Abhishek’s frustrated voice echoed across the ground.
“Kya kar raha hai?” (What are you doing?), Abhishek was heard shouting — a moment that instantly went viral across social media.
The run-out triggered a flood of reactions online, with fans divided over who should take the blame. However, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar had no doubts.
Speaking during commentary, Gavaskar said, “It was not Abhishek Sharma’s fault. It was entirely Ishan Kishan’s fault. In this format, you want to get off the mark quickly, but that was a poor call.”
Despite the early setback, India recovered strongly thanks to a powerful batting display led by skipper Shreyas Iyer and Abhishek Sharma. Iyer played a captain’s knock, smashing 68 off 47 balls, marking his first half-century as India’s T20I captain.

Abhishek continued his fearless form with a breathtaking 59 off just 24 balls, peppered with six fours and four sixes, while Shivam Dube provided the finishing punch with an unbeaten 42 off 21 deliveries.

Their efforts powered India to a competitive 189/7 in 20 overs on a tricky surface at the Riverside Ground.
However, just when England prepared for the chase, heavy rain swept in and refused to relent. The ground staff rushed with covers, and both teams waited until the cut-off time for a shortened game. But with no improvement in conditions, the umpires eventually called off the match.
While the rain ensured there was no result, the biggest talking point remained Kishan’s bizarre run-out and Abhishek’s now-viral reaction — a moment fans are unlikely to forget anytime soon.
