Rajasthan Royals Get Big Jaipur Relief After High Court Order, But One Major IPL 2027 Problem Still Remains…
A crucial Rajasthan High Court ruling has brought fresh hope for Rajasthan Royals to continue in Jaipur, but concerns over the Sawai Mansingh Stadium could still complicate their IPL 2027 plans.
In a major boost for Rajasthan Royals, the franchise may now be one step closer to retaining Jaipur as its home base for Indian Premier League 2027, following an important ruling by the Rajasthan High Court.
For the last two seasons, uncertainty had loomed over the Royals’ future in Jaipur due to ongoing administrative chaos and disputes with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). The conflict had even triggered speculation that the franchise, currently led by Riyan Parag, could shift its base outside Rajasthan.
The dispute largely revolved around leadership instability within the RCA and disagreements over match ticket allocations — issues that created friction between the franchise and the governing body.
High Court Steps In, RCA Gets New Direction
The turning point came when the Rajasthan High Court stayed the functioning of the ad hoc committee that had been managing the RCA for nearly two years. In its order, the court appointed Bhaskar A. Sawant as the sole administrator, tasking him with conducting fresh elections within the next three months.
This decision is being seen as a game-changer.
With an elected body likely to take charge soon, the Royals can now directly coordinate with the RCA — a key requirement repeatedly emphasized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Earlier, the franchise had approached the Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC) for operational matters, bypassing the RCA — a move that reportedly did not sit well with the BCCI.
The cricket board had made it clear that IPL teams must work through their respective state associations for stadium management and match-related arrangements.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium Still Under Scanner
Despite the positive legal development, Sawai Mansingh Stadium remains a major concern.
According to reports, an independent security and infrastructure review ranked the venue among the weakest IPL stadiums in terms of security standards, fan amenities, and overall match-day experience.
A BCCI source reportedly said that the venue is “far behind” modern IPL standards, highlighting the growing pressure on Rajasthan cricket authorities to upgrade facilities.
This means that even if the Royals stay in Jaipur, their long-term future at the iconic stadium is not fully guaranteed.
Could Guwahati Become a Bigger Option?

If Jaipur’s stadium issues remain unresolved, Guwahati could emerge as a stronger alternative.
The Royals already play one or two home matches there every season through their partnership with the Assam Cricket Association, aimed at promoting cricket in India’s North-East region.
Should infrastructure concerns at SMS Stadium continue, Guwahati may become more than just a secondary venue.
For now, though, the High Court’s ruling has handed the Royals a much-needed lifeline — and fans in Jaipur can breathe a little easier as the franchise edges closer to calling the Pink City home for IPL 2027.
