IndiGo launches its cheapest fare yet… ‘IndiGo Lite’ skips check-in baggage to help flyers save more
The airline’s new entry-level fare is aimed at travellers who fly with only cabin baggage, offering a lower-priced ticket on select domestic and international non-stop routes.
India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has unveiled a new budget-friendly travel option that could appeal to passengers looking to cut airfare costs. Called IndiGo Lite, the new economy-class fare is designed specifically for travellers who pack light and do not require checked-in baggage.
Bookings for the new fare opened on July 1, 2026, while travel under the IndiGo Lite category will begin from July 15, 2026.
The airline says the new fare is built around a simple principle: passengers should only pay for the services they actually use.
What is IndiGo Lite?
IndiGo Lite is the airline’s newest entry-level fare category and is intended for customers travelling with cabin baggage only.
Unlike traditional economy fares that include the cost of checked baggage, this option removes that component from the ticket price, allowing travellers to enjoy a lower base fare if they do not need additional luggage.
The fare will be available on both domestic and international non-stop flights.

Passengers can choose IndiGo Lite for:
- One-way journeys
- Round-trip bookings
- Multi-city itineraries
The fare is available for both adult and child passengers.
Where can passengers book it?
Unlike regular IndiGo tickets, IndiGo Lite will be sold exclusively through the airline’s own booking channels.
Customers can make reservations using:
- The official IndiGo website
- The IndiGo mobile application
- IndiGo’s customer contact centre
At present, the fare will not be available on third-party travel booking websites or online travel agencies, making direct booking the only way to access the discounted option.
