“Kylian Mbappé celebrates after France’s 3-0 win over Sweden as he insists focus remains on World Cup 2026 title, not records.”

FIFA World Cup 2026 continues to spotlight the brilliance of Kylian Mbappé, but the France national football team captain has made it clear — personal records mean nothing if the ultimate prize is not achieved.

Following France’s dominant 3-0 victory over Sweden in the Round of 32, Mbappé addressed growing comparisons with football legends, including Lionel Messi, as debates continue over goal-scoring milestones in World Cup history.

However, the Real Madrid superstar brushed aside the noise with a calm and focused message, stating that his only target is to help France reach the World Cup 2026 final.

“I think the goal is to go as far as possible — to make it to July 19 and come back here,” Mbappé told reporters, as quoted by Reuters, referring to the tournament final date.

Mbappé has been in sensational form, scoring 18 goals in 18 World Cup appearances, further strengthening his reputation as one of the most clinical forwards in modern football. Yet, despite his individual brilliance, he insisted that France are approaching the tournament “one match at a time.”

Les Bleus now shift their attention to the Round of 16 clash against Paraguay, a team that will look to challenge France’s momentum and disrupt their growing dominance in the tournament.

Underlining their strength, France have combined attacking firepower with tactical discipline, making them one of the clear favourites to lift the trophy. But Mbappé’s leadership mindset suggests the squad remains grounded despite their impressive run.

As pressure builds and expectations rise, Mbappé’s message sends a strong signal — this France side is not obsessed with records or rivalries, but with one ultimate goal: lifting the FIFA World Cup trophy.
