A new leak suggests Vivo could launch the Vivo S2 FE alongside the Vivo S2 in India, replacing the previously rumoured S2 Pro.

Vivo appears to be changing its strategy for the return of its S-series smartphones in India. While earlier reports suggested the company would launch the Vivo S2 and Vivo S2 Pro, a new leak now claims that the second model could instead be the Vivo S2 FE.

Although Vivo has officially started teasing the arrival of the Vivo S2, the company has not confirmed whether an FE model exists. Details regarding specifications, pricing and the official launch date also remain under wraps.

Vivo S2 FE may replace the Pro model

According to a report citing well-known tipster Yogesh Brar, Vivo was initially planning to bring both the Vivo S2 and Vivo S2 Pro to India. However, the company is now reportedly considering launching the Vivo S2 FE as the second device in the lineup.

If the leak proves accurate, the FE variant could target buyers looking for flagship-inspired features at a more affordable price. However, Vivo has not officially revealed how the upcoming smartphone would be positioned within the S-series.

What does the FE branding mean?

Vivo has already used the FE branding in some of its smartphone lineups, including selected V-series and X-series models. However, the company has never officially clarified whether FE stands for Fan Edition or whether it represents a consistent set of features across different product families.

As a result, the exact purpose of the rumoured Vivo S2 FE remains unclear.

Flagship-inspired design teased

The company has already teased the standard Vivo S2, describing it as featuring a “flagship-inspired design.”

Leaked promotional images suggest the smartphone could arrive with a horizontally placed, pill-shaped rear camera module housing two camera sensors and an LED flash. The design appears to borrow styling cues from Vivo’s premium smartphone lineup.

Certification hints at India launch

The Vivo S2 has also reportedly been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database under the model number V2576.

While BIS certification generally indicates that a device is being prepared for the Indian market, it does not confirm the final specifications or the exact launch timeline.

Conflicting reports on specifications

There is still uncertainty surrounding the hardware powering the Vivo S2.

Some reports claim the smartphone will feature the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 processor, while other leaks suggest Vivo could equip it with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.

The phone is also rumoured to include a large battery and a design influenced by the Vivo X300 FE, although these details remain unconfirmed until the company makes an official announcement.

S-series set for a comeback

The Vivo S-series first entered the Indian market in 2019 with the Vivo S1, followed later by the Vivo S1 Pro. The lineup focused on stylish designs and camera-centric features before quietly disappearing from Vivo’s Indian portfolio.

Its return would expand Vivo’s smartphone offerings alongside the existing V-series, T-series, Y-series and X-series, giving consumers another option in the competitive upper mid-range segment.

While several reports suggest the phones could debut in August, Vivo has only confirmed that the Vivo S2 is coming to India. The company has yet to announce an official launch date or reveal whether the rumoured Vivo S2 FE will ultimately become part of the lineup.
