The upcoming Oppo A7 Pro will launch in China on September 11, featuring an 8,000mAh battery, IP69K rating, flat OLED display and Android 16-based ColorOS 16.

Oppo is preparing to expand its A7 smartphone lineup with the launch of the new Oppo A7 Pro, and the company has already revealed several important details ahead of its official debut.

The smartphone will launch in China on September 11 at 10am local time (7:30am IST), Oppo announced through Weibo.

The A7 Pro will become the second model in the company’s latest A7 family and will sit below the recently introduced Oppo A7 Pro Max.

While its bigger sibling packs an enormous 10,000mAh battery, Oppo isn’t exactly going small with the regular Pro model either the A7 Pro gets an 8,000mAh battery.

And battery capacity isn’t the only specification that stands out.

Oppo A7 Pro Gets 8,000mAh Battery

Oppo has confirmed through the phone’s dedicated Chinese product page that the A7 Pro will feature an 8,000mAh battery.

The company is also making an ambitious durability claim, saying the battery is designed to offer up to seven years of durability.

The exact real-world battery performance will naturally depend on usage patterns and other factors, but the large capacity could make endurance one of the phone’s major selling points.

The 8,000mAh unit is smaller than the 10,000mAh battery on the A7 Pro Max, helping differentiate the two models.

Details surrounding the A7 Pro’s fast-charging capabilities are yet to be fully revealed.

IP69K Rating Confirmed

The upcoming handset is also being positioned as a durable smartphone.

According to Oppo, the A7 Pro will carry an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance.

An IP69K rating is associated with protection against demanding water exposure conditions under specified laboratory testing, giving the phone an interesting durability advantage on paper.

The company is expected to reveal more information about its construction and protection features during the launch.

Flat OLED Display and Android 16

Oppo has confirmed that the A7 Pro will sport a flat OLED display, although details such as the screen size, resolution and refresh rate have not yet been disclosed.

The front design shown by the company features a centrally positioned hole-punch cutout housing the selfie camera.

On the software side, the phone will arrive with ColorOS 16, based on Android 16.

Oppo is also teasing several AI-powered features, though the complete list of tools and their functionality should become clearer at launch.

Oppo A7 Pro Design Revealed

Official images provide a good look at the phone ahead of its debut.

On the back, the Oppo A7 Pro features a distinctive horizontal pill-shaped camera module.

The module houses a dual rear camera setup alongside an LED flash.

Oppo has not yet disclosed the resolution or sensor details of the cameras, leaving photography specifications as one of the biggest unanswered questions ahead of September 11.

The power button and volume controls are positioned along the right edge, while the left side maintains a cleaner appearance.

Three Colour Options Coming

Oppo has also revealed three colourways for the smartphone in China.

The translated names are Desert Brown, Every Step Blossom and Riding the Waves.

The unusual naming reflects different visual finishes being offered for the handset, although colour names could differ if the smartphone is eventually released in international markets.

Two RAM and Storage Variants Confirmed

Pre-orders for the Oppo A7 Pro are already listed through Oppo’s Chinese online store.

The handset will be available in at least two configurations:

  • 6GB RAM + 256GB storage
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB storage

The company has yet to announce the official prices for either variant.

Those details are expected to be revealed when the smartphone launches on September 11.

Oppo A7 Pro vs A7 Pro Max: Battery Is Already a Big Difference

With the A7 Pro Max already sitting above it in the lineup, Oppo appears to be creating clear separation between the two phones.

The biggest confirmed difference so far is battery capacity.

While the A7 Pro Max carries a 10,000mAh battery, the new A7 Pro gets an 8,000mAh unit.

Even so, 8,000mAh remains an unusually large capacity for a mainstream smartphone and could make the A7 Pro an attractive option for buyers prioritising battery life and durability.

More meaningful comparisons will have to wait until Oppo confirms the phone’s processor, camera sensors, charging speed and complete display specifications.

For now, the combination of an 8,000mAh battery, IP69K rating, OLED display and Android 16 gives the Oppo A7 Pro plenty to talk about before its September 11 debut.
