With just six days remaining, attention is firmly on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which are widely expected to make their debut at Apple’s September 9 event.

Apple has officially confirmed the event for September 9 at 10 am Pacific Time. Beyond the event itself, however, most details surrounding the upcoming iPhones remain based on leaks, analyst predictions and supply-chain reports.

That distinction matters, particularly this year, because some of the rumours point towards significant changes from a dramatically smaller display cutout to Apple’s first 2nm iPhone processor.

Apple’s September 9 Event Is Confirmed

Dark Cherry, sometimes described as Burgundy, alongside Sky Blue and Black.

If the information proves accurate, Apple could replace the Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue and Silver finishes associated with the previous Pro generation.

The return of a true Black finish would be particularly notable.

Meanwhile, Dark Cherry could become the signature colour Apple uses to visually distinguish its newest Pro generation.

A20 Pro Could Bring Apple’s First 2nm iPhone Chip

Inside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, Apple is widely expected to introduce the new A20 Pro processor.

The biggest potential upgrade is not simply another annual performance increase.

The A20 Pro is expected to become Apple’s first iPhone processor manufactured using a 2-nanometre process, moving beyond the 3nm technology used by the previous generation.

A smaller manufacturing process can potentially improve both performance and power efficiency, although the actual gains will depend on Apple’s chip design and software optimisation.

Expect performance, battery efficiency and AI capabilities to feature prominently during Apple’s presentation if the 2nm transition happens as expected.

Variable-Aperture Camera Could Be the Big Photography Upgrade

The camera system may also receive an important hardware change.

Multiple rumours have suggested Apple is developing a variable-aperture main camera for its next Pro iPhones.
