Kayadu Lohar has addressed criticism over her absence from Immortal promotions, saying a date clash and another film shoot prevented her from participating as planned.

Kayadu Lohar has addressed the online criticism surrounding her absence from promotions for her Tamil film Immortal, starring GV Prakash Kumar alongside her.

A section of viewers had questioned why Kayadu was seen promoting her other recent release, I’m Game, featuring Dulquer Salmaan, while seemingly remaining absent from promotional activities for Immortal.

The actress has now explained that there was no deliberate decision to prioritise one project over another. According to her, the situation simply came down to scheduling conflicts.

‘I Haven’t Gotten Into Any of This Controversy’

Speaking to Galatta Plus, Kayadu said she had not been paying much attention to the discussion surrounding her promotional appearances.

“I haven’t gotten into any of this,” she said, adding that she did not understand why the issue had attracted so much attention.

Kayadu explained that she had one particular day available for the promotions of I’m Game, and the team behind Immortal was unavailable on that date.

The scheduling mismatch ultimately meant she couldn’t participate in the planned promotional activity for the Tamil film.

Kayadu Says She Was Busy Shooting Another Film

The actress further explained that she was working on another project during the promotional period.

According to Kayadu, film schedules involve far more than an individual actor simply deciding whether to turn up.

“You know how film shootings are,” she said, pointing out that several people and production requirements are involved in coordinating a shoot.

She said she had been shooting for another film, making it difficult to adjust her dates for Immortal.

Kayadu also noted that she had missed promotional activities for I’m Game on other occasions, suggesting that her absence wasn’t limited to Immortal.

‘I Don’t Have to Explain It to Anybody’

Kayadu appeared particularly firm about the expectation that she should publicly justify every scheduling decision.

After explaining why she couldn’t attend, she remarked, “I just feel like I don’t have to explain it to anybody.”

The actress nevertheless acknowledged why some viewers might have formed the impression that she had given one film greater priority.

When asked about such perceptions and scrutiny, she simply responded: “I’m used to it.”

Her comments suggest she has become accustomed to online discussions surrounding actors’ professional decisions, even when the circumstances behind those decisions may not be publicly visible.

Did the Scrutiny Lead to Her Social Media Break?

The conversation also touched upon Kayadu’s decision to step away from social media.

The actress agreed that the level of scrutiny surrounding her promotional appearances may have played a part in that decision.

She also suggested that there could be a political element to some of the criticism directed towards her, though she did not elaborate extensively on that point.

Kayadu described herself as someone who tends to speak openly rather than carefully constructing responses for public consumption.

“I’m just a very innocent, honest person. I’ll just speak my heart out,” she said.

At the same time, she indicated that she has accepted criticism as something artists often encounter when their decisions and appearances are constantly discussed online.

‘Immortal’ Stars Kayadu Lohar and GV Prakash Kumar

Immortal features Kayadu Lohar alongside GV Prakash Kumar, and the promotional controversy arose largely because audiences compared her visibility around the film with her appearances connected to I’m Game.

Kayadu’s explanation, however, makes her position clear: she says the difference was caused by availability and conflicting shooting schedules, rather than a conscious choice to support one release over another.

With actors frequently working across different film industries and multiple projects simultaneously, promotional schedules can overlap with shooting commitments something Kayadu says happened in her case.

What’s Next for Kayadu Lohar?

Kayadu has several projects lined up across different stages of production.

Among the most prominent is The Paradise, starring Nani.

She is also associated with Thaaram, Manjanaththi and Suriya 48.

With multiple projects on her calendar, the actress appears focused on her upcoming work rather than the debate surrounding her promotional appearances.

And while she has now offered an explanation for missing Immortal promotions, Kayadu’s position on the larger controversy is equally clear she doesn’t believe every professional scheduling decision requires a public defence.
