Vivo V80 India Launch Tipped for October: 10X Portrait Zoom, 4K Cinematic Video and More… Here’s What Leaks Reveal

Vivo may be preparing to expand its premium V-series lineup in India sooner than expected. The upcoming Vivo V80 is reportedly being lined up for an October launch, and an early leak suggests that cameras could be one of the biggest talking points of the new smartphone.

According to a report by SmartPrix, the Vivo V80 could make its India debut during the first week of October. While Vivo has yet to officially announce the handset or confirm its launch date, the report indicates that the company could position the V80 as a smartphone aimed particularly at content creators and users interested in mobile photography and videography.

Vivo V80 Could Get a 50MP Telephoto Camera

One of the biggest upgrades tipped for the Vivo V80 is a 50-megapixel telephoto camera.

The telephoto sensor will reportedly support 3X Portrait photography, allowing users to capture tighter portraits with greater subject separation. More interestingly, the phone is also tipped to offer a 10X Portrait mode, which could become one of the device’s headline camera features.

If implemented effectively, the feature could give photographers more flexibility when shooting portraits from a distance without having to physically move closer to the subject.

However, complete specifications of the Vivo V80’s rear camera setup remain unknown for now.

4K Cinematic Video Could Come From Vivo’s Flagship X Series

Vivo could also borrow some camera technology from its premium X-series smartphones.

The V80 is reportedly set to support 4K Cinematic Video, bringing more advanced video tools to the V-series lineup. The mode is said to allow users to introduce background blur while recording and apply colour grading directly through the phone’s camera application.

This could make the feature particularly attractive for creators producing Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, travel videos and other social media content directly from their smartphones.

The report also points to three possible cinematic styles Modern, Vibrant and Pastel giving users different visual treatments without requiring extensive post-production.

Vivo V80 Specifications Remain a Mystery

Beyond its reported camera capabilities, Vivo has managed to keep most details about the V80 under wraps.

Key specifications such as the processor, display, battery capacity, charging speed, RAM and storage configurations have not yet been reliably detailed.

The pricing is also unknown, meaning it remains to be seen where Vivo will position the new device in its increasingly competitive V-series portfolio.

What Does the Current Vivo V70 Offer?

The upcoming smartphone will succeed the Vivo V70, giving us some indication of what could be expected from its successor.

The current V70 features a 6.59-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset and is available with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.

Photography is already a major focus of the V70, with the handset featuring three 50-megapixel rear cameras. Both its primary and telephoto cameras feature optical image stabilisation (OIS), while a 50-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls.

The smartphone also packs a substantial 6,500mAh battery.

With that hardware already available on the existing model, expectations will naturally be high for the Vivo V80.

Vivo V80 Lite Is Also Appearing in Leaks

The standard V80 may not be the only new V-series device on the horizon.

A more affordable Vivo V80 Lite has also surfaced through recent leaks. Images reportedly showing the handset suggest a curved display, slim metal frame and at least blue and white colour options.

A leaked marketing poster has further fuelled speculation that the V80 Lite could be approaching its official debut.

For now, however, Vivo has not officially confirmed the V80, V80 Lite, their specifications or their India launch schedules.

If the latest leak proves accurate, October could bring one of Vivo’s most camera-focused V-series launches yet and the combination of 10X Portrait photography and 4K Cinematic Video could be central to the company’s pitch.
