The Tata Punch EV has added another strong safety achievement to its name after securing a five-star rating in the latest Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) crash tests.

The compact electric SUV recorded an impressive 31.09 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP). The tested variants included the Adventure 40 and Empowered+ S 40 trims.

In the adult occupant protection assessment, the Tata Punch EV scored 31.09/32, coming extremely close to the maximum possible score.

The electric SUV achieved 15.28 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. It also scored 15.80 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier evaluation.

The Punch EV additionally received an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole impact test.

According to the crash-test assessment, the vehicle offered good overall protection to occupants. However, the assessment also noted that protection for certain body regions was rated as adequate during the frontal and side impact evaluations.

The electric SUV scored 45 out of 49 points in the Child Occupant Protection assessment.

It achieved the full 24/24 points in the dynamic assessment and received the maximum 12/12 points for Child Restraint System (CRS) installation.

The vehicle was assessed using child dummies representing an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old child. For both age groups, the Punch EV achieved the maximum 8/8 points in the frontal impact test and 4/4 points in the side impact test.

The child restraint systems used during the evaluation were Joie i-Spin Safe seats. They were installed using an i-SIZE ISOFIX/LEG setup in a rearward-facing configuration.
