Tata Motors Cars Set to Get Costlier From September 1: Prices to Rise by Up to ₹25,000… Here’s What Buyers Need to Know
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has announced another price revision across its ICE and EV lineup, citing rising input costs and inflationary pressures. The increase will vary by model and variant.
New Delhi: Buying a Tata Motors car could become more expensive from next month. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has announced a price increase of up to ₹25,000, effective September 1, 2026, making it the latest major automaker to pass a portion of rising costs on to customers.
The upcoming revision will cover the company’s internal combustion engine (ICE) as well as electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. However, customers should note that the full ₹25,000 increase will not apply uniformly across the range. According to the company, the actual hike will depend on the model and variant.
Why is Tata Motors increasing car prices?
Tata Motors has attributed the latest revision to rising input costs and continued inflationary pressures. The company said it has continued to absorb a significant portion of the cost increases, but some of the additional burden is now being passed on to customers through the price adjustment.
The move comes at a time when several automobile manufacturers in India are facing higher production and commodity-related costs. Hyundai Motor India has also announced a price increase of up to 1% from September, adding to expectations of broader price revisions across the passenger vehicle industry.
Tata Motors had already raised passenger vehicle prices by up to 1.5% from July 1, 2026, meaning the September revision adds another layer of cost pressure for buyers considering a new Tata vehicle.
Which Tata cars will be affected?
The price revision is expected to cover Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle portfolio, including popular models such as the Tiago, Tigor, Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Sierra, Harrier and Safari.
The company also has EV versions of several models, including the Tiago EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, Curvv EV and Harrier EV, which fall under Tata Motors’ growing electric vehicle portfolio.

With the exact increase varying between models and variants, buyers will have to wait for the detailed revised price list to know precisely how much their preferred vehicle will cost after September 1.
Another price hike for Tata buyers
The latest announcement is significant because it comes only weeks after the company’s previous passenger vehicle price revision. Tata Motors has been trying to balance cost pressures, pricing and customer demand while maintaining the value proposition of its vehicles.

The broader trend is also becoming difficult for car buyers to ignore. Hyundai has announced its own September price hike, while other manufacturers have made similar adjustments in 2026 amid continuing cost pressures.
For customers already planning to purchase a Tata car, the September 1 deadline could therefore be worth keeping in mind. Depending on the model and variant, completing the purchase before the revised prices take effect could help avoid at least part of the additional cost.
What buyers should know
For now, ₹25,000 is the maximum announced increase, not a flat hike across every Tata model. The final amount will depend on the vehicle and variant.
Tata Motors’ latest decision also highlights a larger trend in India’s automobile market, where manufacturers are increasingly adjusting prices as input and commodity costs put pressure on margins.
For prospective buyers, the key date is September 1, 2026 when the revised Tata Motors passenger vehicle prices are scheduled to come into effect.
