August is turning into a busy month for India’s automobile market, with several major manufacturers preparing to introduce new models or significant updates.

1. Skoda Slavia Facelift – August 18

The Skoda Slavia is expected to receive a facelift in India on August 18, following the recent update to its SUV sibling, the Kushaq.

The facelift is expected to bring several styling and equipment upgrades while retaining the sedan’s existing powertrain options. The 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines are expected to continue.

One of the more interesting changes could be to the automatic transmission. The existing six-speed automatic is reportedly expected to make way for an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The updated Slavia could also receive a substantially upgraded cabin, with features such as rear-seat massagers, a digital instrument cluster and a new infotainment system expected to be part of the package.

For buyers who still prefer a traditional sedan over an SUV, the updated Slavia could be one of August’s most interesting launches.

2. BMW X1 LWB – August 21

Next up is the BMW X1 LWB, which is expected to arrive in India on August 21.

The long-wheelbase version is designed to offer more cabin space than the standard X1, potentially making it a particularly attractive proposition for Indian buyers who prioritise rear-seat comfort.

The India-spec model is expected to use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing around 204 hp and 350 Nm. The engine is expected to be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In terms of dimensions, the X1 LWB is expected to be similar to the BMW iX1 LWB, measuring approximately 4,616mm in length, 1,845mm in width and 1,627mm in height, with a 2,800mm wheelbase.

With BMW expanding its focus on India-specific requirements, the X1 LWB could become an important addition to the brand’s premium SUV line-up.

3. New-generation Audi Q3 – August 25

The new-generation Audi Q3 is expected to make its India debut on August 25, bringing a major update to one of Audi’s best-known premium SUVs.

Globally, the new Q3 is offered with multiple powertrain options. These include a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, a 2.0-litre diesel and more powerful 2.0-litre turbo-petrol versions. Selected variants are also available with Quattro all-wheel drive.

Audi also offers a plug-in hybrid version internationally, featuring a 25.7kWh battery and a claimed electric-only range of up to 119km.

However, it is important to note that the complete India-spec powertrain line-up has not been confirmed. Some of these engine options could make their way to the Indian market, but the final specifications will be revealed closer to launch.

The new Q3’s arrival will give buyers another fresh option in India’s increasingly competitive luxury SUV segment.

4. MG Hector Hawk – August 26

The final model on our list is perhaps the most interesting from an electric-vehicle perspective.

MG Motor India is expected to launch a new seven-seater electric SUV on August 26. The automaker has confirmed the upcoming model, although its official name has not yet been announced.

The SUV is widely expected to be called the MG Hector Hawk.

The electric SUV is reportedly expected to feature a 56.7kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor. The setup is expected to produce around 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque.

If these specifications make it to production, the model could become an interesting option for buyers looking for a practical electric SUV with three-row seating.

The seven-seat configuration could also help MG target families who want the space of a traditional large SUV without moving away from electric power.
