Skoda Octavia RS Returns to India: Just 50 Cars Up for Grabs at Rs 49.99 Lakh Bookings Open Soon
After selling out its first 100-unit allocation, Skoda Auto India is bringing the performance-focused Octavia RS back with another limited batch, offering 265bhp and a 0-100kmph time of just 6.7 seconds.
The Skoda Octavia RS is making a comeback in India, but buyers will have to move quickly this time.
Skoda Auto India has announced a second allocation of just 50 units for the performance sedan after the first batch of 100 cars sold out, highlighting the continued demand for a fast, enthusiast-focused sedan in India’s premium car market.
Priced at Rs 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Octavia RS will continue to arrive in India as a completely built-up unit (CBU).
The second batch is expected to reach customers around the beginning of the festive season.
Only 50 Octavia RS cars coming this time
The limited allocation makes the Octavia RS an even rarer sight on Indian roads.
Pre-bookings for the second batch opened on August 18 at 8pm, with customers required to pay a Rs 2.5 lakh booking amount.
Interestingly, buyers who had reserved the Octavia RS during the previous allocation but could not secure a vehicle were given priority access to the new booking window until 5pm on August 19.
After that, bookings were opened to other customers, subject to the availability of the 50 cars.
The sedan will be offered in three exterior colours:
- Mamba Green
- Velvet Red
- Magic Black
265bhp and 370Nm from a 2.0-litre turbo engine
Under the bonnet is where the Octavia RS truly earns its badge.
The performance sedan gets a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 265bhp and 370Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox, with power sent to the front wheels.
Skoda claims the Octavia RS can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds, giving it enough performance to compete with considerably more expensive performance-oriented cars.
Despite using front-wheel drive, the sedan is equipped with an electronic differential lock (VAQ) designed to improve traction and handling when the car is being driven enthusiastically.
Adaptive suspension adds another layer of performance
The Octavia RS isn’t simply about having a powerful engine.
It gets Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), allowing drivers to adjust the car’s responses through different driving modes.
The car also features progressive steering, which is designed to offer sharper responses as the steering wheel is turned further.
Together, these systems give the RS a more performance-focused character than the standard Octavia.
For enthusiasts, that combination could be just as important as the headline 265bhp figure.
How different does the Octavia RS look?
The RS gets several styling changes that separate it from the regular Octavia.
At the front, it features a gloss-black grille and black exterior elements, along with RS badging and a more aggressive aerodynamic package.

The sedan also gets LED Matrix headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler.
The overall design remains recognisably Octavia, but the darker detailing and larger wheels give the RS a considerably sportier road presence.
Inside, it gets an RS-specific cabin
The performance theme continues inside the cabin.
The Octavia RS features RS-specific sports seats with red stitching, aluminium pedals and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
The equipment list includes a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless SmartLink connectivity.

Ambient lighting is also part of the package, adding a more premium feel to the cabin.
Safety isn’t an afterthought
Despite being focused heavily on performance, the Octavia RS comes with a comprehensive list of safety and driver-assistance features.
The sedan gets 10 airbags, lane assist and adaptive cruise control.
It also features several ADAS functions, including collision avoidance assist, emergency braking and park assist.
The Octavia RS carries a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, further strengthening its credentials as a performance car that can also serve as an everyday family vehicle.
A rare proposition in India’s car market
The return of the Octavia RS is particularly interesting because enthusiast-oriented sedans have become increasingly rare as SUVs continue to dominate the Indian market.
For Rs 49.99 lakh, the Octavia RS offers a combination of 265bhp performance, a practical sedan body, premium equipment and a relatively understated design.
The fact that the first 100 cars sold out suggests there is still a dedicated audience willing to pay a premium for such a package.
But with only 50 units available in the second allocation, prospective buyers may have an even smaller window this time.
If the second batch sells out quickly as well, it could further demonstrate that the RS badge still carries serious weight among India’s performance-car enthusiasts.
