Jawa 42 All Stars launched at ₹1.80 lakh: Over 60 changes, wider tyres and twin exhausts… but what’s new under the skin?

The iconic Jawa name has always carried a special appeal among motorcycle enthusiasts in India, blending old-school character with modern engineering. Now, Jawa Motorcycles has introduced a refreshed version of its popular motorcycle—the Jawa 42 All Stars—with prices starting at ₹1.80 lakh, ex-showroom.

But this is not being presented as just another cosmetic update.

According to the brand, the new Jawa 42 All Stars comes with more than 60 updates, covering styling, comfort, handling and overall motorcycle dynamics. The changes are aimed at making the bike look sharper while also improving the riding experience.

A new look with a noticeably stronger stance

The biggest visual changes on the Jawa 42 All Stars can be seen around its rear section.

The motorcycle gets a wider rear fender, redesigned side panels and a more compact upswept twin-exhaust system. New alloy wheels have also been added, giving the motorcycle a more contemporary appearance without completely moving away from the classic Jawa identity.

Another important change is the wider 150/70-17 rear tyre, which gives the motorcycle a more muscular stance from the back.

At the front, the bike retains its familiar round headlamp, while the 13.2-litre fuel tank continues to preserve the recognisable silhouette associated with the Jawa 42.

The single-piece seat also keeps its flat, bench-style design, although the cushioning has reportedly been improved to offer better comfort during longer rides.

More than looks: Changes to handling and comfort

The All Stars update is not limited to visual changes.

The company says the motorcycle has received revisions to its swingarm stiffness, handling characteristics, ergonomics and overall comfort. These changes are intended to make the motorcycle feel more controlled and agile on the road.

For braking, the Jawa 42 All Stars uses disc brakes at both ends along with dual-channel ABS, adding an important layer of safety.

Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks, while the rear gets gas-filled twin shock absorbers.

The combination of revised hardware and the wider rear tyre could make the motorcycle more appealing to riders looking for a retro-styled bike with a stronger and more planted road presence.

The familiar 294.72cc engine stays

Under the fuel tank, the Jawa 42 All Stars continues with the same 294.72cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine.

The motor produces:

• Maximum Torque: 26.3 Nm
• Gearbox: 6-speed constant mesh

The decision to retain the existing engine means the biggest story here is not a dramatic jump in performance. Instead, the focus appears to be on refining the overall package.

For many buyers, that could actually be the more important upgrade. A motorcycle’s character is not shaped by engine figures alone—comfort, handling, styling and everyday usability can make just as much difference.

Digital features join the retro character

While the motorcycle maintains its classic-inspired design, it does not ignore modern technology.

The Jawa 42 All Stars gets a single-pod fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, giving riders access to modern features while keeping the cockpit relatively simple.

The bike also comes with a 100/90-18 front tyre, paired with the wider 150/70-17 rear tyre.

With its 13.2-litre fuel tank, the motorcycle is expected to offer practical usability for both daily riding and occasional highway journeys.

The new Jawa 42 All Stars appears to be an attempt to make an established motorcycle feel fresher without abandoning what made it popular in the first place.

Instead of completely redesigning the bike, Jawa Motorcycles has focused on improving several smaller areas—from the rear styling and alloy wheels to ergonomics, comfort and handling.

At a starting price of ₹1.80 lakh, ex-showroom, the motorcycle enters a highly competitive segment where buyers increasingly expect a combination of distinctive design, modern equipment and strong real-world performance.

The wider tyre, revised rear styling and upswept twin exhausts certainly give the All Stars a more aggressive personality.

Whether these 60-plus updates translate into a significantly better experience on Indian roads will ultimately become clearer once riders get more time with the motorcycle.
