Maruti e Vitara Gets Costlier for the First Time: Top Variants See Price Hike, But Here’s What Buyers Still Get
Maruti Suzuki has quietly revised the prices of its electric SUV, with the higher-spec variants becoming dearer. Here’s a look at the new prices, battery options, driving range, and how the e Vitara stacks up against rivals.
India’s rapidly growing electric vehicle market has received another notable update. Maruti Suzuki has increased the prices of its flagship electric SUV, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, marking the first price revision since the model’s launch earlier this year.
While the entry-level version remains unchanged, buyers interested in the higher trims will now have to pay more. The move comes at a time when competition in India’s electric SUV segment is intensifying, with several automakers introducing new models and advanced technologies.
Which e Vitara Variants Have Become More Expensive?
The base Delta variant continues to be available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 15.99 lakh, offering some relief to budget-conscious EV buyers.
However, the mid-spec Zeta variant has become costlier by Rs 30,000 and is now priced at Rs 17.49 lakh. Meanwhile, the range-topping Alpha trim has received a hike of Rs 20,000, taking its ex-showroom price to Rs 19.79 lakh.
The latest revision makes the premium variants slightly more expensive, but they continue to offer larger battery packs, greater range, and enhanced features.
Battery-as-a-Service Option Still Available
To make EV ownership more affordable, Maruti Suzuki continues to offer the e Vitara under its innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.
Under this scheme, customers purchase the vehicle at a reduced upfront cost and pay separately for battery usage.
The BaaS prices are:

- Zeta – Rs 11.99 lakh + battery rental charge of Rs 4.39/km
- Alpha – Rs 14.29 lakh + battery rental charge of Rs 4.39/km
This ownership model is designed to lower the initial purchase burden and encourage wider adoption of electric vehicles.
Battery Packs, Power and Driving Range
The e Vitara is offered with two battery pack options, catering to different customer needs.
The Delta variant comes equipped with a 49 kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor producing 142 hp and 193 Nm of torque. According to the company, this version can deliver a claimed driving range of 440 kilometres on a full charge.
Meanwhile, the Zeta and Alpha variants feature a larger 61 kWh battery pack. These versions generate 172 hp and 193 Nm of torque, while offering a claimed range of up to 543 kilometres, making them more suitable for long-distance travel.

A Key Player in India’s Electric SUV Race
The e Vitara represents a significant milestone for Maruti Suzuki, as it marks the brand’s entry into the highly competitive mass-market electric SUV segment.
The SUV competes directly with rivals such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV.
With growing consumer interest in electric mobility and increasing competition among manufacturers, the e Vitara’s updated pricing strategy could play an important role in determining its market performance in the months ahead.
What This Means for Buyers
Although the latest price increase may disappoint some prospective customers, the hike is relatively modest compared to the overall cost of the vehicle. Buyers still benefit from competitive driving ranges, flexible ownership options through BaaS, and the assurance of purchasing an EV from India’s largest passenger car manufacturer.
As India’s EV landscape continues to evolve, the e Vitara remains one of the most closely watched electric SUVs in the country, and this latest price update is likely to be of keen interest to both buyers and industry observers.
