Nissan Tekton Scores 5 Stars in Bharat NCAP Crash Test… But There’s a Twist Behind the Safety Rating
New Nissan Tekton achieves impressive crash-test results with top safety scores, but the rating is based on its Renault Duster twin’s assessment
The newly launched Nissan Tekton has entered the Indian SUV market with a strong safety statement. The SUV has secured a five-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test, giving buyers another reason to consider it in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment.
The safety evaluation was conducted in June 2026 and covered multiple variants of the Tekton, including models equipped with both the 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre powertrain options. According to the crash-test results, the SUV achieved an impressive score in both adult and child occupant protection categories.
In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, the Nissan Tekton scored 30.49 out of 32 points. The SUV received 14.49 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and achieved a perfect 16 out of 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. The vehicle also successfully cleared the side pole impact assessment.

For Child Occupant Protection (COP), the Tekton secured 45 out of 49 points. The SUV scored maximum points in important child safety parameters, including a 24/24 CRS dynamic score and 12/12 CRS installation score, while achieving 9/13 points in vehicle assessment.
Safety Features Offered Across Variants
Nissan has equipped the Tekton with several safety technologies as standard across its range. These include electronic stability control (ESC), side head curtain airbags, pedestrian protection measures, and seat belt reminders for all three rows.
These features highlight the growing importance of safety equipment among Indian car buyers, especially in the SUV segment where customers increasingly look beyond design and performance.
The Important Detail Behind Nissan Tekton’s 5-Star Rating
While the five-star rating is a major achievement, there is an important detail that buyers should know.

The Nissan Tekton shares its platform, body structure, and safety architecture with the Renault Duster. According to the Bharat NCAP fact sheet, the Tekton’s safety rating is based on the assessment carried out for the Renault Duster because both vehicles are mechanically and structurally identical in terms of their safety setup.
The Renault Duster had already achieved the same crash-test scores, meaning customers choosing either SUV can expect a similar level of passive safety protection.
How Nissan Tekton Compares With Rivals
In terms of adult occupant protection scores, the Nissan Tekton faces strong competition. Its AOP score of 30.49/32 is slightly lower than key rivals such as the Tata Sierra, which scored 31.14/32, and the Kia Seltos, which achieved 31.70/32.
However, in child occupant protection, the Tekton remains competitive. Its 45/49 score matches the Kia Seltos and stands ahead of the Tata Sierra’s 44.73/49 score.
With a starting price of ₹10.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Nissan Tekton aims to attract buyers looking for a stylish SUV with strong safety credentials. While its rating carries a connection to the Renault Duster’s assessment, the result confirms that Nissan’s new SUV offers a well-engineered safety package in one of India’s most competitive automotive segments.
