New Delhi: JSW Motors is preparing to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with a rugged electric SUV based on the Chery iCar V23, according to industry reports. The upcoming model is expected to become India’s first mass-market electric off-roader, offering a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and taking on lifestyle SUVs such as the Mahindra Thar Roxx.

Although JSW Motors has not officially revealed the vehicle’s specifications, multiple test prototypes have already been spotted on Indian roads, indicating that development is progressing steadily.

Expected Dual-Motor AWD Powertrain

Globally, the dual-motor version is equipped with an 81.76kWh NMC battery pack, delivering a combined output of 211hp and 292Nm of torque.

The electric SUV is claimed to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 140 km/h.

The international model offers an NEDC-certified driving range of approximately 430km, though the real-world range and any India-specific specifications could differ if the vehicle is localised.

JSW Motors is yet to confirm whether the Indian model will retain the same charging capabilities.

Rugged Design Inspired by Classic Off-Roaders
