Citroën Aircross Comfort Edition showcased with updated leatherette interiors and new infotainment upgrades in India

French automaker Citroën has rolled out a significant update for its compact SUV, the Citroën C3 Aircross, in India with the launch of a new Comfort Edition. Priced from ₹9.09 lakh (ex-showroom), the limited-run variant is clearly aimed at addressing one of the SUV’s most debated shortcomings — its relatively basic feature list compared to rivals.

In a market where even entry-level SUVs are becoming increasingly feature-loaded, Citroën’s latest move feels like a calculated attempt to stay relevant without drastically altering the vehicle’s core pricing strategy.

A BIG PUSH TOWARDS A MORE PREMIUM CABIN FEEL

The most noticeable upgrade in the Aircross Comfort Edition is the introduction of leatherette seat upholstery across variants. This small but impactful change is expected to elevate the perceived quality of the cabin, especially for buyers comparing it with more feature-rich competitors.

Citroën has also added adjustable rear headrests, a detail that enhances passenger comfort during long drives. Alongside this, the company claims improved interior material quality, subtly refining the overall cabin experience.

While the changes may not be radical, they directly target customer feedback that the Aircross, despite its strong road presence and practicality, felt slightly under-equipped inside.

NEW ACCESSORY PACKS BRING TECH AND STYLE BOOST

To further sweeten the deal, Citroën has introduced three optional accessory packs, giving buyers flexibility based on their needs and budget.

The YOU Pack focuses on technology upgrades, offering a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reverse camera, fog lamps, and cosmetic enhancements.

The PLUS Pack adds everyday convenience features, including a wireless charging pad, catering to users who want modern usability without stepping into higher trims.

Meanwhile, the top-spec MAX Pack brings a more premium experience with JBL audio speakers and a three-channel dash cam system, complete with driver assistance alerts — a feature set rarely seen in this price bracket.

PRICING STRATEGY: VALUE OR COSMETIC FIX?

The Citroën Aircross Comfort Edition is available in three variants, priced between ₹9.09 lakh and ₹11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). On paper, the SUV remains competitively priced, but the question remains whether these upgrades are enough to shift buyer sentiment.

In a segment dominated by feature-heavy rivals, the Aircross has often been praised for its ride comfort and space but criticised for missing out on modern tech features.

With this update, Citroën appears to be trying a middle path — improving perceived value without increasing base pricing aggressively.

MARKET CHALLENGE STILL REMAINS

Despite the updates, competition in the compact SUV space remains intense, with buyers increasingly expecting sunroofs, fully digital clusters, advanced connectivity, and ADAS features even in mid-range variants.

The Aircross now feels more refined, but whether these incremental upgrades will be enough to change its market perception is something only time will tell.

For Citroën, the Comfort Edition is less of a reinvention and more of a correction — a careful attempt to plug gaps without disturbing its core identity.
