Ampere Reo VYB electric scooter showcased in its new pastel colour lineup aimed at urban commuters

India’s electric mobility space just got a fresh push at the entry level as Ampere Vehicles expands its portfolio with the launch of the Ampere Reo VYB. Priced aggressively at ₹64,499–₹69,499 (introductory), the new low-speed electric scooter is clearly aimed at first-time EV buyers and urban riders looking for a simple, no-frills commute solution.

In a market where petrol prices continue to pinch daily commuters, the Reo VYB arrives as a quiet disruptor—built not for speed thrills, but for practical city mobility.

At its core, the scooter is powered by a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteryLithium iron phosphate battery — a chemistry known for higher thermal stability, improved safety, and longer lifecycle compared to traditional lithium-ion packs. The company claims the battery can last up to 1,00,000 km, which, if proven in real-world usage, could make it one of the more durable options in its segment.

The scooter offers a claimed range of up to 80 km on a single charge, positioning it firmly as a last-mile commuter vehicle rather than a long-distance ride. With a top speed capped at 25 kmph, it falls under India’s low-speed Electric scooter category, meaning it does not require registration or a driving licence in most states.

Despite its entry-level positioning, the Reo VYB doesn’t feel stripped down. It comes equipped with a colour LCD digital instrument cluster, keyless start via a key fob, LED headlamp setup, and a front disc brake for added safety. These are features typically seen in slightly higher-priced scooters, making this offering more competitive than expected.

Practicality has also been given importance. With 24 litres of under-seat storage, the scooter can easily accommodate a helmet or daily essentials—something urban riders will appreciate during office commutes or short errands. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a rear damper setup, designed for typical Indian road conditions.

Visually, the Reo VYB is offered in four youthful colour options—Warm White, Pastel Purple, Dark Grey, and Aqua Metallic—clearly targeting young riders and small families who want a clean, modern look without overspending.

On the ownership side, the company is offering a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty along with access to over 400 service touchpoints across India. A 12×7 customer support system under Ampere Care is also being highlighted as part of its after-sales strategy, aiming to build trust in the rapidly growing EV segment.

While the Reo VYB may not be built for speed enthusiasts, its positioning is clear: affordable, safe, and practical electric mobility for everyday India. The real test, however, will be how it performs on real roads beyond claimed figures.
